John G. Lingenfelter, MD Geriatrics Research Scholarship 2012

The mission of the Arizona Geriatrics Society (AzGS) is to advance health care for older Arizonans by supporting the development of professionals in geriatrics and gerontology committed to improving and developing healthcare best practices for older adults. As part of this mission, AzGS is pleased to announce the AzGS John G. Lingenfelter, MD Geriatrics Research Scholarship that will assist young investigators (physicians, nurses, social workers, etc.) and students enrolled in graduate education in Arizona to complete research focused on the care of older adults. Qualified students must complete a brief application and demonstrate that research can be completed in a timely manner and presented at a future AzGS Fall Symposium.

Description: The John G. Lingenfelter Geriatrics Research Scholarships will be awarded to a young investigator practicing in Arizona or student enrolled in an Arizona graduate health professional program with a focus on geriatrics. Research must be completed in a timely manner and be related to aging and health.

Eligibility: To be eligible for the Lingenfelter Research Scholarship, you must be currently be practicing in Arizona or enrolled in a State-approved graduate program leading to medical degree, advanced nursing degree, masters in social work or other graduate health related profession with an emphasis in geriatrics.

Award: Two $500 scholarships, to be awarded annually at the Annual Fall Symposium, will support research project that focus on geriatrics or gerontology.
