ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY OUTLINE (PART ONE)
DIRECTIONS TO LOG ONTO THE SCHOOL DATABASE:
A) Go to http://nylearns.org/bhull which will bring you our school library’s home page.
B) Click on the words LIBRARY DATABASES on the left.
C) Scroll down to EDISON GALE page and click on link beneath this phrase.
D) On the new page, type in the ID password: jama_rpa and then click PROCEED.
E) Click in OPPOSING VIEWPOINTS IN CONTEXT.
F) Scroll down to SOCIETY AND CULTURE and click on View All to the right of this phrase.
G) Now, on the BROWSE ISSUES page scroll down and find your assigned issue and click on it.
YOUR TASK:
A) Read the lead article. When you get to View More click on it and then you may listen to the article while you follow along.
B) When you have finished reading the lead article, click back to the previous page, scroll down and read (and listen to) the first article on the left under FEATURED VIEWPOINTS for your assigned argument.
C) Read it a second time paraphrasing five major points in the article and copying at least one great sentence that you will use as a quote to back up your argument in your Core Curriculum Argumentative Research Essay. Then copy all SOURCE CITATION information at the bottom of the article for your bibliography.
D) Go back to the previous page and now read the next article (that is against your assigned argument) twice, paraphrasing five major points and copying at least one great sentence that you will use as a quote in your research essay. Then copy all SOURCE CITATION information at the bottom of the article.
