ANNUAL REPORT ON IMPLEMENTATION OF THE RECOMMENDATIONS APPROVED BY
ARCHBISHOP MYERS
1. Create one Implementation Team for your cluster, including any members from the Cluster Core Committee willing to continue.
2. If feasible, create subcommittees for the implementation of cluster goals. For example; an adult formation cluster committee, a child catechetical committee, a school committee, a human concerns committee, a liturgical training committee, stewardship committee or a youth ministry committee, etc.
3. Schedule one or two times a year for all the parish pastoral councils and committee leadership groups to gather for sharing, prayer, social activities and the evaluation of joint efforts.
4. Create opportunities for already existing parish committees in a given area to meet and discuss how it might be advantageous to work together (i.e. combined youth ministry or combined stewardship formation, etc.)
5. Create an action plan that develops goals and objectives that help you implement your recommendation.
- Consider using the annual report form as a template for your action plans. It is a helpful guide and it is the form you will need to use for the annual RCAN Implementation Team Report due May 15 of each year. (Pg. 2-5)
- Study the examples provided. (Pg.6)
- Invite each subcommittee to create their own action plans and submit to the Cluster Implementation Team for review and if needed, coordination.
6. Use the appropriate Archdiocesan Offices as a resource for your joint work
7. Share your cluster work at (the next) deanery meeting.
8. Call or e-mail Mark Howard in the Archdiocesan Office of Research & Planning, to share your ideas or to ask for assistance – (973) 497-4024 or .
9. Complete the Annual Report by May 15th each year. (It is understood that, for some parishes, the first report might only cover part of a year.)
10. Regularly up-date the parishioners of the parishes in the cluster on your joint ministry work.
ARCHDIOCESE OF NEWARK
NEW ENERGIES PARISH TRANSITION PROJECT
ANNUAL CLUSTER IMPLEMENTATION REPORT
Rationale and Purpose:
The purpose of the Annual Report is to help parishes move forward and achieve the goals they are seeking to accomplish.
The process suggested for use in accomplishing the goals is two-fold:
1) Work cooperatively to develop the action steps and implement them.
2) Prepare the report cooperatively and present it by May 15th each year.
Archbishop Myers’s goals for the New Energies Project include the following:
1) To enhance quality parish life through the Archdiocese;
2) To support increased understanding of and action on the 28 principles related to quality parish life;
3) To strengthen the presence and ministry of the Church in urban and suburban areas;
4) To increase collaboration between and among leaders, parishes and the whole Archdiocese of Newark;
5) To act as good stewards of all human, financial and facility resources;
6) To build a greater sense of unity within the rich ethnic, cultural and age diversity present within the local Church.
Please answer the following questions on a separate sheet of paper:
1) What has your cluster worked on together this past year that is new for your cluster?
2) How has New Energies helped your cluster more effectively serve your people in light of the 28 Principles? If it has not, why do you think that is so?
(The 28 Parish Principles may be found at: www.rcan.org/images/taskforce/2004parishprinciples.pdf )
3) As you are doing your planning for the next 1 to 3 years, which 3 of the 28 Principles does your cluster think need to be addressed in the following year?
Use the attached forms to describe your goals and action plans.
Please return your completed report by May 15, 2014 to:

ANNUAL CLUSTER IMPLEMENTATION REPORT
DATE May 2013 CLUSTER # ______
GOAL: Develop joint cluster Pre-Cana program
PEOPLE INVOLVED / STEPS TAKEN TOWARD GOAL / DATESPre-Cana
sub-committee of cluster Implementation Team / Held a meeting with each parish’s pre-Cana team to discuss the idea of developing a cluster wide pre-Cana program. / June 2013
Pre-Cana
sub-committee / The sub-committee identified individuals from each parish’s pre-Cana team to serve as a leadership team for the cluster pre-Cana team. / July 2013
Cluster Pre-Cana leadership team / Examined each parish’s pre-Cana program and join aspects of each to create a pre-Cana program for the cluster and selected the parish for pre-Cana program to be held. / September 2013-December 2013
Cluster Pre-Cana leadership team / Held first cluster joint pre-Cana program. It was attended by 10 couples. / February 2014
Goal Evaluation: After some difficulties in creating a joint leadership team, the cluster pre-Cana team was able to develop a program that combined aspects of each parish’s prior pre-Cana program. The program that was held in Feb. of this year was very successful. The couples that participated gave positive feedback after the program. The next pre-Cana program has been scheduled for Sept. 2010. This goal has been a positive for the cluster, since each parish only had 2 or 3 couples participate for each session before, combining our resources has led to a better experience for all involved.
