Topic/Theme: At school, Identifying people, Greetings and Introductions, Expectations and Routines
Benchmarks/Outcomes: S.1.2.Demonstrate comprehension of words that express basic personal needs (such as transportation, housing); personal likes and dislikes; personal information (such as age, address, family); and school-related information (such as teacher’s name, schedule, routines). Content and Language Objectives: Outline classroom expectations and routines; Introduce selves and peers; Identify important parts of the school.

Content and Language Objectives: Identify and spell classroom objects; Describe our classroom using “There is/are…”; Interview classmates and respond to question about their phone numbers; Tell time.
Grammar: Verb To be, classroom objects with articles: a, an, the, plurals (s, es, ies), “There is/are…”, “It is …(o’clock)”.

Topic/Theme: A Day at School, In the School Office

Content and Language Objectives: Give information in the school office, greet people, request help, days and months, dates, ordinal numbers.

Content and Language Objectives: Discuss family words, family members, poetry structure (rhyme, stanzas) identify the main idea and details, read aloud with intonation and expression.
Grammar: Regular plurals, irregular plurals, contractions and negatives with be, simple present tense.
Activities: Students write a poem, students write a descriptive paragraph, make an animal classification poster, organize rhyme cards.
