Can’t Wait For Spring Break!

(Acrostic Poetry)

Deena George

Spring Break is coming soon!

Playing in the pool all day long.

Reading a good book in the garden.

I spend time with my family.

No rain, just clear blue skies.

Going on vacations that last a weeklong.

Beaches are filled with visitors.

Relaxing in the sun all afternoon.

Everyone is out of school.

April 4th, it all comes to an end.

Kids have to go back to school.

How Green the World Is

(Color poem)

Kelly Gibson

Green is a tiny frog

Sitting outside the door.

Green is the tall grass

Swaying freely in the meadow.

Green is the anticipated traffic light

That tells us when to go.

Green is the Granny Smith

That has always been my favorite apple.

Green is the dollar bill

That makes my life just a little bit easier.

Green is the slow-moving tortoise

That so brilliantly beat the hare.

How Green the

World is.

Black

(Color poem)

Martha Rice

Black

Black is the dark night.

Black is the shiny shoes you wear to church.

Black is the dress that you wear to church.

Black is the ring that I wear on my finger.

Black is the room with no light.

Black is my cat that waits for me to come home each day.

A Friend

(Concrete Poem)

Judy Tolle

A friend is

someone who is by

your side. There to help

you dream really high. A

friend sticks with you until

the end, lifting you up again

and again she carries a smile from

ear to ear, always believing in what

you do. She wishes you could live

near her.

she

believes

in

you,

yes

she

does

she

thinks

your

stronger

than

above.

My friend reminds me of

a lamp because she lets

her light speak out.

If I Were in Charge of the World

(If I Were in Charge of the World)

Candice Deal

If I were in charge of the world

there would be no such thing as war,

people of different cultures would be

appreciated and loved. Chocolate would

be part of the four food groups and

dessert would be eaten first. No one

would be allergic to anything, so

all can enjoy everything. Traveling

would be cheaper, and exploring the most

popular hobby around. All flowers would

bloom year ‘round and snow would reach

the southern states more often. All children

would be loved and poverty would not exist.

This is my world.

The Emerald Field

(Invitation Poem)

Jamie Hedger

Come rest in the emerald field,

And be soothed by its joyous song,

As musical flowers dance in the breeze.

Lay under the rainbow sky,

And hear it laugh in delight

Every time a cloud of cotton sighs.

Come join me in this place of jade,

And let your worries slip away.

Sounds like children laughing and running down the hall

Looks like classroom filled with raised hands

Tastes like freshly cut, sweet, red apple

Feels like a drizzle of chalk dust tickling your nose

Smells like a breath of fresh air

Teaching is by far the most sensible thing to do.
