POSITION DESCRIPTION: ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR – BURLINGAME

1.00 GENERAL STATEMENTS

1.01 POSITION SCOPE

A. The Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruiting new students to the College and coordinating the admissions process for the Burlingame Campus and Outreach program. The counselor will manage a geographical recruiting territory and promote Allen County Community College to both traditional and adult students. The position will generate applications for admission and convert applicants to enrolled students. The position will establish positive, lasting relationships with high school counselors, prospective students, their parents, and businesses and employers in the surrounding area.

2.00 SPECIFIC STATEMENTS

2.01 Position Function and Category

A. Function/Category of Position: Management/Supervisory

B. Length of Contract: 12 months

C. Salary Category: III

2.02 Supervision

A. Supervision Received: Director of Admissions. The Admission Counselor coordinates with the Director of Outreach Student Services.

B. Supervision Exercised: The Admissions Counselor may supervise work-

study students for particular projects.

2.03 Key Areas of Responsibility

A. Promotes appropriate attendance center (residential, commuter, out-reach, on-line), that best meets the student’s needs.

B. Implement recruitment-marketing plan in the northern tier for the successful enrollment of students to Allen County Community College.

C. Responsible for applicant and inquiry pool at the Burlingame Campus.

D. Coordinates travel schedules to high schools, college fairs, and area businesses with Admissions Office.

E. Hosts campus visitors and recruitment events for the Burlingame Campus.

F. Utilize a variety of methods (Jenzbar, phone, email, social media, etc) to contact and recruit prospective students.

G. Represents the college at business, educational and community events.

H. Assists students in placement testing, class selection and enrollment.

I. Refers students to appropriate support services.

J. Analyzes current enrollment and registration procedures and makes recommendation for improvement.

K. Assists in preparation of new student orientation materials and participates in orientation programs for the Burlingame Campus.

L. Develop and maintain relationships with businesses and governmental agencies including those who offer educational assistance benefits with a goal of increasing college enrollment.

M. Maintains inventory and manages distribution of inquiry packets and other college admissions information.

N. Work with Allen high school students and counselors to retain students after high school graduation.

O. Perform other duties as assigned.
