Prep Hour: Block 8 (1:27-2:44)
Course Description: The focus of the Science Standards, as directed by the Iowa Core Curriculum, is for students to be engaged active experiences to understand basic science concepts. The course will mainly cover ecosystems, biodiversity, and environmental concerns. The class will be a combination of lecture, discussion, readings, and hands on activities. Students will be expected to be self-motivated and be able to keep on task to be successful.
Instructional Materials and Supplies Required Daily:
Textbooks will not be assigned, but will be available for students to check out if needed outside of class. Students will need a folder, notebook paper, and pencil/pen for each class.
Grading Scale:
A: 94-100% B-: 80-82% D+: 67-69%
A-: 90-93% C+: 77-79% D: 63-66%
B+: 87-89% C: 73-76% D-: 60-62%
B: 83-86% C-: 70-72% F: 59-0%
Grade Components:
Tests/Projects/Major Assessments = 50%
Classwork/Labs = 50%
Extra Credit assignments will not be given in this class. However, tests will have questions that allow you to earn extra points.
Late Work: Any work turned in after due date; will receive a 10% grade deduction for each class period it is late.
Absences: Students will get 1 week to complete make-up work due to absences. It is the student’s responsibility to check with the Teacher to get make-up work.
