I. Match the fact with the correct explorer

II. Match what goes in which type of essay rubric? (some are for both rubrics)

Continuity and Change (CCOT) Compare-Contrast (CC)

1. Historical Context *: describes an event/key concept or other historical process during the same time as the prompt topic.

2. Thesis: answers the prompt directly and includes time period/civilization and both aspects of the essay type.

3. Analysis: the ‘why’—specifically why the two items are the same or why are they different

4. Analysis: the ‘why’- specifically why the concepts or processes stayed the same or why they changed

5. 2 Topic Sentences: leads reader into the main idea of that paragraph = should be one aspect of the prompt = either changes or continuities OR similarities or differences

6. Direct Comparison**: a sentence with both civilizations/peoples you are comparing mentioned directly in the sentence ( X and Y both…..)

7. Correct Facts: specific, relevant, correct details and facts about the topic at hand

*Example: While Ms Kramer’s world history students are studying for the AP World History test in room A21, down the hall in Mr Taylor’s room, students are studying for the AP US History Test.

**Example: Ms Kramer’s 1st period AP World history students and her 6th period world history students and both studying the Mongol Moment in preparation for the AP exam.
