A tree hugger – who is a dirt worshipper
(A shocking bumper sticker)
Worship the created and forget the creator
“The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts” (Psalms 10:4). Footnote: (In all his thought there is no God).
What is a tree hugging dirt worshipper? A FOOL (Psalms 14:1).
- Even in a comparison of value concerning things connected to this world, wood and earth are common, mundane (II Timothy 2:20-21).
- The earth (dirt trees and everything else material) shall be burnt up at the end of time (II Peter 3:10).
- God created the earth (Isaiah 45:18; Genesis 1:1; Acts 14:15).
- God blesses the earth (with rain and sun) so it gives its abundance (Acts 14:17; Matthew 5:45). Without God wood and dirt are nothing.
- God has given the earth unto man (Psalms 115:16), to sustain him (Isaiah 45:18).
Man the worshipper
I believe that God created man with the desire to worship. The Bible does not make a person a worshipper, evidenced by the fact that absent the Bible man will worship something. In this case a tree and dirt.
- The Bible teaches man who and how to worship, and we need the Bible to provide that information (Isaiah 46:5; 9; 55:8-9; I Corinthians 2:10-13).
- Matthew 4:10 is the closest thing we have to a command.
- John 4:23-24 gives us the: Object – God. The manner – from heart. The way – according to truth.
A dirt worshipper will not be judged by dirt
- Christ will be the judge (Acts 17:30-31; John 5:22).
- The words of Christ will be the standard (John 12:48).
- Every accountable soul will be there (II Corinthians 5:10; Romans 14:12).
- When the trees and dirt are long gone, the soul will continue forever:
- One existing (Matthew 25:30; 41; Luke 16:23).
- The other living (Matthew 25:46; Revelation 14:12).
A person can cling to wood and dirt, but in reality what do they have?
- That which is temporary and perishing (I John 2:15-17).
- Inanimate instead of the true and living God (Acts 14:15).
- Wood and earth offer no comfort; God is the God of all comfort (II Corinthians 1:3-4).
- In need? Wood and earth offer no help, God does (Hebrews 4:15-16).
- Wood and earth do not save, Christ is the only Saviour (John 4:42; I John 4:14; John 14:6; Acts 4:12).
