A non-disposable party!

Objectives

· To develop an understanding of the impact of disposable products on the environment.

· To explore alternatives to disposable products in order to reduce waste.

Curriculum

Materials

· Computer with Internet access

· A selection of disposable objects ( e.g. coffee cup, plastic cutlery, paper napkin, etc.)

· Waste materials to be reused (e.g. for decorations)

· Reusable or compostable packaging

Procedure

· What does ‘disposable’ mean? Make a list of all the disposable products we use every day. What types of materials are they made of? Can we live without them?

· Suggest organising a ‘non-disposable’ party in the classroom or school. Think about the invitations, food and drinks, packaging and decorations.
