8th Grade Spanish Project!
Hola Chicos,
The end of the year is nearing and we will be starting a project together in class and you will be completing/presenting for the 4th marking period. Parts of the project will be due at different times throughout the 3rd and 4th marking period and then the final project will be due the week of MAY 9th!!! We will start the project in school and have project days to work on it during class but you will also have to work on it at home! The guidelines are as follows:
We will be creating a power point or poster board of one Spanish speaking country. Each student will work with a partner to complete this project; the goal of the project is to learn about the culture and history of a Spanish speaking country. Once the students have chosen their countries they will begin to research the information below. All the points below MUST be included in the project and presented in SPANISH on the power point/poster board. (I recommend a tri fold poster board due to the large amount of information)
It must contain:
1. The name of the country and capital2. The map of the country
3. The flag4. Traditional Dance
5. Main cities6. Currency and the equivalent to the dollar
7. 3 festivals from the country8. A native animal and/or plant
9. Typical dishes/foods10. Type of government and religion
11. Legend (see below)12. 3-2-1 (See below)
YOU MUST INCLUDE PICTURES!!!! THE MORE THE BETTER AND MAKE IT COLORFUL AND EYE CATCHING, MAKE IT EXCITING TO LOOK AT!
We will review how to present all of the words and phrases in Spanish during class. If you would like to add other interesting facts BESIDES the REQUIRED 10, you may include them at the end.
The final two parts of your presentation will be to present a story, myth, or legend from the country you are researching. In the beginning of the year we read different legends, mal ojo and la llorona, think about these legends and then look for some in your research country!
The last slide will be a 3-2-1; 3 things you learned, 2 things you liked and 1 question you still have about the country.
Below you will find the schedule when different parts of the project are due:
Week of April 4th- the information for numbers 1-10 must be completed and signed off by the teacher
Week of April 18th- legends/myth/stories must be completed and signed off by the teacher
Week of May 9th- PROJECTS DUE!!!! Be prepared to present poster or power point and legends to the class!!
Please sign and return one copy with your student! If you or your student has any questions regarding the project, please ask me no later than the week of April 25th. If I do not hear from you, I will know that the project is understood and will be completed for the above dates. Please understand, that if your student does NOT submit a project they will receive a grade of a 60 for the first week it is late and a double zero (project and presentation) the week after, this will SEVERELY hurt their 4th marking period grades. Thanking you in advance!
