8th Grade Homework

Art Career Specialization

  • Homework is assigned on Monday and is started in class that day. It will be due the next Monday (one week).
  • Homework counts as 1/3 of your grade, so it is important.
  • You will have the choice to pick out which career you would like to focus on.
  • There are ten homework assignments total.
  • Homework can be completed in any medium.
  • Be Creative!!!!!
  • Homework does not have to be in your sketchbook, but cannot be on lined paper.
  • Late homework receives ½ credit, unless an extra credit project is turned in with it by the following Monday.
  • If you are absent on Monday, you are expected to turn in your homework when you return. See Mrs. Mathis if you have been absent for a long amount of time.
  • If you are missing two homework assignments, Mrs. Mathis will follow up with a phone call home.

Grading Scale:

Main Concept4 points

Creativity2 points

Full use of page (Background)2 points

Shading (Even if in color)2 points

Total 10 points X 10 Assignments = 100 points

Extra Credit

  • Extra credit projects are self-designed ORIGINAL pieces of art.
  • Extra credit should have some time and thought put into it.
  • Extra credit is always welcome but never replaces any assignment.
  • If you have all of your homework turned in, at the end of the twelve weeks and if you are on the border of a grade, five extra credits will bump you up to the higher grade (Example: if you have an 88%, and all homework is turned in, and you have five extra credits, you will receive the A- for your final grade).
