MES-PTO COMMITTEE REQUIREMENTS

  1. All committee chairperson commitments are ONE YEAR unless otherwise specified or circumstances arise that interfere with the completion of your term.
  2. At least one committee representative must be present at all regularly scheduled PTO meetings, especially if your committee has an upcoming event. If a representative cannot attend the PTO that representative must contact the PTO Committee Chairperson (Jen Toole ) prior to the meeting to discuss any committee-related information.
  3. All committees must be run in accordance with all MES school policies and MES-PTO by-laws.
  4. All committee chairs are responsible for following MES-PTO banking procedures as stated below the committee description and in accordance with the Treasurer when monies are raised and collected at a PTO event. Reimbursement forms and check request forms are available on the School Website under the PTO tab.
  5. The MES PTO Executive Board is available for assistance when needed. The Board members and contact information are listed on the School Website under the PTO tab.
  6. The descriptions are based on past events; however, current committees can change or amend certain aspects of an event as they deem necessary with Board approval. In addition, certain events may or may not be held during particular years.

June 8th

This committee organizes and runs any activities associated with the MES 8th grade graduation and dance. Committee members usually recruit 7th grade parents to chaperone the dance.

ART APPRECIATION

The volunteers for this committee go into the classrooms of grades 1-6 during the school year to present lessons on famous artists. All supplies and materials on the various artists are provided through this program. Volunteers are also responsible for scheduling and coordinating the presentations with the teachers and other AA volunteers within the same grade.

CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE

This committee organizes a gift drive for local families in need. Students, families and teachers can select “angels” off of the MES Christmas tree in the lobby and purchase the requested gift and/or send in money with a form that gets sent home every December.

Gifts are sorted, wrapped and distributed by this committee with the help of various MES student organizations.

DIRECTORY/MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

This committee is responsible for the distribution of PTO membership and school directory information also sells advertising space to local businesses. Committee will collect PTO applications and dues. This committee also is responsible for attending the Kindergarten Registration and New Student Orientations, informing incoming families about the MES PTO and their related activities. Committee members also help with the coordination and distribution of the school directory.

HOSPITALITY/COMMUNITY OUTREACH

This committee is responsible for welcoming and informing new students and parents about MES and its many programs. Volunteers must attend the Newcomers Orientation in August and will arrange for new students to be paired with a current MES student for tours of the school. The committee also provides refreshments for designated school functions, such as:
