Hello 8th grade parents,

Welcome to the final week of your child’s 8th grade year!

The fun begins tomorrow with the 7th grade Class hosting “Memory Night.” They have spent countless hours planning and preparing this event and it will undoubtedly be a spectacular evening! Many announcements will be made on that evening, particularly the “Valedictorian and Salutatorian” announcement. If your child is named for either category, please know that he/she must deliver a speech at the graduation ceremony on Thursday evening. Graduation speeches must be written and submitted to me no later than Wednesday so that I may review and approve it.

Please keep in mind the dress code for the Memory Night event:

Graduates will arrive to school at 7:45 and leave with their parents when the event is over. Your students will participate in several ‘reflective activities.’ One of which is PARENT LETTERS. After lunch, your child will seek out a quiet spot on the KOREAN CENTER campus so that he/she may read a letter from you. All parent letters are due on Monday (tomorrow). Please send these letters directly to me. Shhhhhh… your children do not know about this!

Thursday is GRADUATION DAY. The day begins at 9:30 with the Baccalaureate Mass and Awards Ceremony. The Mass will begin at 9:30 a.m. At the beginning of this ceremony, the students will line up, in a single file line, in front of the church door, ready to process in. At this time, you and your spouse will take your child’s arm and walk “arm and arm” down the aisle to your seats. You will be sitting with your child for the entire morning – Baccalaureate Mass and Awards Ceremony. The Awards Ceremony will begin right after Mass. At this event, students will receive awards for their academic and athletic achievements earned throughout their 6th, 7th and 8th grade years. Awards (medals) must be worn at the evening’s Graduation Ceremony.
