GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION

When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock and injury to persons, including the following:

Read all instructions before using this Dryer.

1. THIS DRYER IS RATED 120V AC,60 Hz, 1500W. ALWAYS PLUG DRYER DIRECTLY INTO A WALL OUTLET/RECEPTACLE. AVOID USE WITH AN EXTENSION CORD. IF YOU MUST USE AN EXTENSION CORD, THE CORD SHALL BE No. 14 AWG MINIMUM SIZE AND RATED NOT LESS THAN 1,875 WATTS. DO NOT PLUG DRYER INTO ANY OTHER CORD CONNECTED DEVICE, SUCH AS A POWER STRIP, SURGE PROTECTOR, MULTIPLE OUTLET ADAPTER, CORD REEL OR OUTLET-TYPE AIR FRESHENER. THE USE OF SUCH DEVICES MAY CREATE A FIRE HAZARD. PLUG UNIT DIRECTLY INTO A 120V WALL OUTLET ONLY.

WARNING: FAULTY WALL OUTLET CONNCECTIONS MAY CAUSE THE WALL OUTLET TO OVERHEAT. BE SURE THE ELECTRICAL PLUG FITS TIGHTLY INTO OUTLET BEFORE EACH USE. DURING USE, CHECK TO MAKE CERTAIN THE PLUG IS NOT OVERHEATING. IF NECESSARY, HAVE A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN CHECK AND/OR REPLACE THE WALL OUTLET.

2. Use this dryer only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electrical shock, or injury to persons.

3. Do not immerse or use near water. This dryer is not intended for use in moist or wet locations. Household use only.

4. This dryer is for INDOOR use only. Garages and barns are fine as long as the unit is protected from the weather.

5. Do not allow the power cord to rest in front of hot exhaust air while the unit is in operation. Damage to the unit may occur and may present a shock/fire danger if the power cord is melted. Run the power cord outside of the heater opening in the cover and then under the dryer if necessary to the wall outlet.

6. Make certain that the room is equipped with a working smoke detector.

7. Make certain that the power source conforms to the electrical requirements of the dryer.

8. Extreme caution is necessary when any heating unit is used by or near children or invalids and whenever the dryer is left operating unattended.

9. Do not operate the dryer with a damaged cord or plug or after the dryer malfunctions, or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Please contact Customer Service for assistance.

10. To disconnect dryer, turn the unit OFF and then remove the plug from the outlet.

11. Always unplug dryer when not in use. Unplug power cord before servicing or moving the dryer.

12. Do not insert or allow fingers or foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as it may cause an electric shock, burn, fire, or damage the dryer. Do not block or tamper with the dryer in any manner while it is in operation.

13. To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not place on soft surfaces or near drapes, clothing or furniture where openings may become blocked.

DO NOT DEPEND ON THE ON/OFF SWITCH AS THE SOLE MEANS OF DISCONNECTING POWER WHEN SERVICING OR MOVING THE DRYER. ALWAYS UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. ALWAYS TURN OFF AND UNPLUG DRYER BEFORE LEAVING THE AREA. NEVER LEAVE CHILDREN UNATTENDED WHEN THE DRYER IS ON OR PLUGGED IN.

14. Always place the dryer on a stable, flat, level surface when operating, to avoid the chance of the dryer overturning. Locate the Power Cord so the dryer or other objects are not resting on it. DO NOT run power cord under carpeting. DO NOT cover power cord with throw rugs, runners, or the like. Arrange power cord away from room traffic and where it will not be tripped over.

15. This dryer may be HOT when in use. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin touch hot surfaces.

16. A dryer has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. DO NOT use the dryer in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are stored. DO NOT use dryer in locations where flammable or explosive chemicals are stored.

17. DO NOT dry clothing or fabric upon which there is anything flammable (e.g. alcohol, cooking oils, gasoline, spot removers, dry-cleaning solvents). Flammable substances give off vapors that could ignite or explode.

18. DO NOT use around any flammable liquids or materials.

WARNING: REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK- DO NOT USE THIS DRYER WITH ANY SOLID STATE SPEED CONTROL DEVICES.

FOR BEST RESULTS

1. Remove as much moisture as possible before putting articles in the dryer to shorten drying time and save energy.

2. When arranging items to dry, place long items along the sides and shorter items in the middle. This helps air circulate better which reduces drying time and saves energy.

3. Make sure there is space between the outside of items and the dryer wall to facilitate airflow. If necessary, turn items half-way through the drying cycle so that the outside face of the article now faces the inside.

4. On thicker, heavily insulated items, turn the article inside out half-way through the drying cycle to expedite drying.

5. If scent control for hunting is an issue, hang a scent wick inside the dryer on one of the lower frame bars during drying to infuse the fabric fibers with either a cover or lure scent. As the item then dries, it will be completely soaked with the scent.

6. Don’t overload the dryer. Make sure there is adequate space between items to allow air to circulate.

7. Use the dryer in an area of the house where the ambient temperature is as warm as possible. This helps the dryer get the cavity temperature up quickly and hold it there without losing any heat to the outside air.

8. Don’t allow anything to block the heater air inlet or exhaust.

9. During cold/dry winter months, use the dryer inside the home to add humidity and comfort to the ambient air.

10. Make sure the zipper is completely closed to prevent air from escaping.

OPERATING LIMITATIONS

Air Outlet Temperature / 90o C / 194oF
Self-Reset Thermal Circuit Breaker / 85oC* / 185oF
Thermal Protection Breaker / 106oC** / 223oF
Max Total Weight of Articles to Dry / 100 lbs

*- The Positive Temperature Coefficient “PTC” thermistor is not located directly in the airflow. If a temperature of 85oC reaches the PTC, the timer will go back to the off position and can only be turned on again after the unit has cooled down below 85oC.

**- If the temperature of the PTC goes above 106oC, the protection breaker will trigger to protect the unit. If this happens, the unit will have to be serviced by a qualified technician to replace the protection breaker before the unit can be used again.

Attempting to repair the unit without our approval will void the warranty and could possibly lead to more damage or injury!

SAFETY FEATURES

1. A reinforced strap is located at the top, back of the cover. Nail or screw this strap to a wall stud to help prevent the dryer from tipping over if a child tries to pull on it.

2. The heating unit has a plastic shield between the outside metal and the hot air to help keep the outside of the heater cooler and help prevent burns in case of accidental touching around where the air exits. This also helps prevent the surface directly underneath the heater from becoming hot.

3. A thermal overload protector (Positive Temperature Coefficient) “PTC” thermistor is built in to prevent overheating the heating unit.

4. If an overheat temperature is reached, the heating unit will automatically shut off. It can only resume operation when the user resets the unit.

To Reset the Unit:

1. Turn the timer switch to “Off”.

2. Unplug the unit and wait 10 minutes for the heating element to cool down.

3. After the unit has cooled down, plug the unit into a 120v electrical outlet and follow the operation instructions described in this manual.

TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS

If your dryer shuts off unexpectedly or fails to operate, the previously mentioned safety feature may have been activated to prevent overheating.

1. Be sure the power cord is plugged into a working electrical outlet and no house fuse or circuit breaker has tripped.

2. Be sure the timer hasn’t expired.

3. Make sure nothing is blocking either the outside air intake slots or the inside air exhaust slots

ASSEMBLY- While one person can assemble the dryer, it goes much easier with two people.

1. Carefully lay out and inventory the contents of the packaging. Be careful when handling the items as some may have sharp edges or points. You should have:

1 / HEATER UNIT
1 / POLYESTER COVER
2 / SHELF PIECES
8 / ALUMINUM J-HOOKS
13 / 34” TUBING
6 / 21” TUBING
4 / 12” TUBING
12 / 3-AXIS ELBOWS
4 / RUBBER FEET
48 / SCREWS
1 / TOOL

NOTE: If you have any damaged or missing items, please e-mail PRO and we will arrange for repair or replacement. E-mail your issue to:

2. Insert the rubber feet on each of the four (4) 12” tubes.

3. Connect one (1) 3-Axis elbow to the opposite end of each 12” tube as shown in Fig. 1 and secure with a screw. While it makes no difference if these elbows point up or down, make sure all four are uniform in their direction.

4. Place the four (4) legs in the approximate positions they’ll be in as the frame takes shape.

5. Insert a 21” tube into each 3-Axis elbow for each side as shown in Fig. 1 and secure with screws. Squeeze the elbows towards each other prior to tightening the screws to make sure the tubing goes all the way into the elbows.

6. Slide the dryer heater onto a 34” piece of tubing as shown in Fig. 1

7. Insert a 34” tube into the elbows on the back side and the 34” tubing with the heater attached to the front elbows. Make sure the exhaust vents on the heater (the lower ones) face inward. Again, press each side toward each other to take out any slack and secure with screws. The lower support frame should now be complete.

8. Insert four (4) 34” tubes into the 3-Axis elbows on the lower support frame and secure with screws.

9. Connect four (4) 3-Axis elbows to the opposite end of those tubes as shown in Fig. 1 or 2. Again, it doesn’t matter if they point up or down but make sure the four are uniform. You can insert the screws until they touch but don’t tighten yet as you may have to rotate the elbows slightly to square them up with the other tubes.

10. Insert two (2) 21” tubes into the elbows to make the side frames as shown in Fig. 1 or 2. Then, insert a 34” tube into the elbows for the back support. Again, squeeze all the components together and tighten the screws. Make sure the frame corners continue to be at right angles from each other. (Note: There is no 34” tube across the front middle).

11. Insert four (4) 34” tubes vertically into the 3-Axis elbows making up the middle frame as shown in Fig. 2 and tighten with screws.

12. Connect the four (4) remaining 3-Axis elbows to the opposite end of the 34” tubes. IMPORTANT:This time make sure the 3-Axis elbows point down so the top of the frame is flush to prevent damage to the polyester cover. Please reference Figs. 2, 3 or 4 for more detail. Secure lightly with screws but don’t tighten yet.

13. Install two (2) 21” tubes on the sides and two (2) 34” tubes for the front and back as before and secure with screws.

14. Check the entire frame to make sure all hardware is secure.

15. Now take one (1) of the shelves. The raised sides face down and the shelf will be flat on top. The shelves are interchangeable front or back so don’t worry which one you pick first. You’ll see notches in the corners. These notches are up against the frame as shown in Fig. 3. Insert four (4) of the J-Hooks into the small holes and then drape over the top of the frame as shown in Fig. 3. Do the same for the other shelf. Adjust the J-Hooks along the top of the frame so they’re vertical.

16. Now you’re ready to install the cover. You can either tip the frame forward and lean it up against something if you’re alone or use a small footstool to assist. Carefully, position the cover at the top of the frame making sure the zippered front is on the same side as the heater. Slowly start working the cover down the frame keeping both sides even as you descend. As you get to the heater, adjust the heater along the tube so the heater opening in the cover matches well.

17. For best results to keep the cord out of the way, run the cord around the right 12” tubes between them and the cover and into a 120v wall outlet. (Make sure the heater unit is turned OFF prior to plugging the unit in or it will start running).

18. The inside of each shelf has vertical slots punched out to match up perfectly with the other shelf. These vertical slots are where you’ll insert the hangers for your garments. Make sure the hanger goes through both slots to keep the load balanced.

19. The cover is equipped with a reinforced safety strap located at the top/back of the cover. For added safety, screw or nail this strap into a wall stud to help prevent children from possibly climbing on and tipping over the unit.

OPERATION

1. Hang articles to be dried from the hanger slots provided in the shelf.

2. Close the zipper door securely.

3. Make sure nothing is blocking the air intake or exhaust ports of the heater and plug heater into a 120v AC wall outlet.

4. Adjust timer on heater to desired duration. The timer can be adjusted to any intermediate time up to three hours. The timer can also be set to “Hold” which will operate the unit continuously without an automatic timer shutoff. You must use care when using this function as the heater will continue to run until you manually shut it off with the timer knob or unplug the unit.

Notes:

1. When drying blankets, you can remove the front shelf and drape the blanket over the rear shelf and let it hang down. Make sure the blanket doesn’t hang down so far then to block the air from reaching the back.

2. If it becomes necessary to wash the cover, carefully remove and wash by hand in a gentle laundry detergent. Reinstall the cover and allow to air dry or just turn the heater on for a few minutes to dry.

3. Don’t allow items on the shelf to block the mesh screen at the top of the cover! This screen allows the humid air to escape and dry air to be brought into the heater just like your tumble dryer.

4. Drying time varies due to the type of clothing and amount of saturation. As a general rule of thumb, if insulated coveralls and coats are run through a wash/spin cycle in a washing machine it usually takes around three hours to dry a full load in the Heat Locker. Drying times will change based on the load (air needs to circulate freely to maximize drying) and ambient temperature.

5. Depending on ambient temperature, the internal cavity of the dryer will heat up to approximately 1100F during operation.
