Outcome 1

Describe hide product reception, storage, use, and markets.

Evidence requirements

1.1Hide products are described in terms of raw materials received at a hide processing department.

Rangeincludes but is not limited to – types, amounts, sources.

1.2Handling and storage methods are described for each type of raw hide product received.

1.3Types of hide end products are described in terms of their uses.

1.4The company's main markets for each hide end product are described.

Rangeincludes but is not limited to – end use, purchasing country.

Outcome 2

Describe hide processing operations.

Evidence requirements

2.1Major hide processing stages used by the company are identified and described in accordance with organisational requirements.

2.2Company health, safety, and environmental policies relating to hide processing are identified and described in accordance with organisational requirements.

2.3Each type of hide processing machine is identified and described by name, position, and function in the process.

2.4The output capabilities of each machine are identified and described in terms of organisational requirements.

2.5Any special monitoring and maintenance requirements of individual machines are identified and described in accordance with organisational requirements.

2.6Procedures for handling machine malfunctions and breakdowns are identified and described in accordance with organisational requirements.
