7th and 8th COMPUTER APPLICATIONS required.

BUSINESS ESSENTIALS (.5) –In this semester course, students will be introduced to the role of business in the lives of individuals, consumers, workers and citizens. Topics covered include forms of ownership, finance, banking, consumer credit, insurance, marketing, careers, budgets, etc. Students will prepare and complete a checkbook simulation as well as participate in a job shadowing activity.

WEB DESIGN- A year-long course designed to give students a survey of production tool software for use in the real world. Examples of these software packages include applications in spreadsheet, database, desktop publishing, and web design. Internet safety and social responsibility are covered.

ACCOUNTING I - A year-long course designed to introduce students to basic accounting procedures and concepts. Students will learn the accounting cycle from the opening entry through adjusting, closing, and reversing entries for proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations.

ADVANCE ACCOUNTING – This course is a continuation of Accounting I focusing on corporate accounting. Prerequisite: Accounting I

ENTREPRENEURSHIP (.5) -A semester course designed to teach students how to start and maintain a successful business. Students will apply business procedures through Streak-N-Shoppe, a school-run business.

GRAPHIC DESIGN - A year-long course for 10th through 12th graders committed to teaching students to use PhotoShop, ImageReady, and various other software to design and create quality graphics. Students will also learn to create animations using a variety of software. Prerequisite: Interactive Media.

MEDIA TEHCNOLOGY - A year-long course for advanced computer students who have completed Interactive Media and Graphic Design. Students do various forms of live work for the school district, community members, and local organizations. INSTRUCTOR APPROVAL IS REQUIRED to enroll in this course.

BUSINESS LAW (.5) – A year-long course for students to learn about enforceable rules that govern how individuals deal with each other and how each individual interacts with society as a whole and as it applies to business.

CONSUMER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT - Required for students in grade 12 designed to help students make wise consumer decisions. Students will study units in: check writing and keeping a checking account, credit, insurance (home, health, and automobile), preparing tax forms, saving and investing.

WEB PAGE DESIGN (.5 or 1) – Independent Study A semester-long or year-long course for students employed to work on the district website or independent study of programming languages. BY INSTRUCTOR APPROVAL ONLY

BANKING & FINANCE (.5) – A semester course for juniors and seniors interested in learning more about the banking industry. This course teaches finance principles from the banking perspective.
