José began his career as a soccer official in 1996 and has served in several different capacities in support of the officiating and coaching components of the sport of soccer. He is a grade 5 referee, grade 7 instructor, and grade 7 assessor and is also a licensed USSF (National ‘D’) and certified NFHS coach. José has officiated matches ranging from youth to professional USSF, NISOA, and NFHS. He previously served as the SYRA in the state of Mississippi and has served as the MS HOD for Regional competition.

José has been recognized for his contributions in and out of the field of soccer numerous times; including being selected as the soccer official of the year (2004-2006) by the Mississippi High School Activities Association.

He holds a BS and MS degree in civil engineering from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez. José lives in Alexandria with his wife and two children.
