Course Overview
/ Q1: Narrative Writing (personal narrative and narrative fiction)Q2: Expository Writing (non-fiction and literary analysis)
Q3: Persuasive Writing (timed writing, business letters, research/thesis driven paper, advertising)
Q4: Creative/Descriptive Writing (poetry, drama, character sketch, reviews)
Supplies / Bring to class every day:
- Writing binder (with loose leaf paper) or writing folder and writing notebook
- Blue/black pens or pencils
- Assignment notebook
Absent? / -Look at the absent board

-Talk to a classmate
-See me before or after school or at lunch if you have questions or need further assistance
Curriculum and Assessment / - We will cover writing essentials as detailed by the “6 + 1 Traits of Effective Writing” and various grammatical concepts
-All formal written work will be assessed according to a 6 +1 Traits rubric, which will be discussed in class prior to each assignment
Expectations for Student Behavior / - Participate daily in class (note-taking, asking and answering questions)
- Respect yourself, others, me, the classroom, and the building at all times
- Contribute to a constructive learning community at all times
- Be on time to class
-Complete all assignments thoroughly
