(2:55-3:10) EXTRA 15 MINUTES----Teacher will read a story book to the class from the RIF Collection of Books and do one STEM Activity found in the teacher’s guide book. Teacher will mark the stories in guidebook as they are completed.

Monday---Day 1 “Friends Forever”

Oral Language: Sharing Literature, Big Book “From Head to Toe”.

Phonemic Awareness: focus on /el/le

Phonics: read and spell words with /el/ le and high frequency words (were, four) Read the words on page 33 students will sort the spelling list words. Students will read simple regular words with the syllable -le and place in the correct word to match its picture on page 34.

Read: Decodable Book “A Picnic for Winkle” Students will take AR Tests on these books on the computer.

Language Arts: Writing: Teacher shows a human body diagram. Students draw a selft-portrait and label their body parts.

Grammar: Students will be introduced to names of days from teacher book page 112N.

Tuesday---- Day 2 “Friends Forever”

Oral Language: Sharing Literature, Poem: Build Concept Vocabulary(Teacher Book page 112P)

Phonics: read and spell /el/ words and high frequency words (each, great, other, place, school, talk, together) Students will complete practice page 36 read /el/ words and solve the riddle. Students write the word from the box that completes each sentence on page 37

Word Power page 112-113 Students will complete practice page 29 High-frequency words. Students will write the word that best completes each sentence.

Read: “Friends Forever ” pp 112-137 Focus on fact/fiction and reread. Teacher will ask questions as we read the story.

Language Arts: Writing: Students will write about something they wish they could do with a friend.

Grammar: Students will review names of days practice book page 137C.

Wednesday---- Day 3 “Friends Forever”

Oral Language: Sharing Literature, Poem: Build Concept Vocabulary Teacher Book page 137E.

Phonemic Awareness: Phoneme Segmentation: Focus on /el/le

Phonics: read and spell /el/ le words and high frequency words (each, great, other, place, school, talk, together)

Read: “Friends Forever” From pp 112-137 Reread for fluency. Focus on fluency.

Reading Across Texts: page 138-139 “You’ll Sing a Song and I’ll Sing a Song”

Read making connections page 140-141. Writing in Science: Find out about seashells. Draw a shell that you like. Show others where the animal once lived. Read Decodable Book “Tell Me a Riddle” Students will take AR Test on the computer. We will continue testing until all students have tested on the books.

Language Arts: Writing: Students will write about an animal they would like to be.

Grammar: Students will review names of days from teacher book pp 141B.

Thursday--- Day 4 “Friends Forever”

Oral Language: Sharing Literature, Poem: Build Concept Vocabulary from Teacher book page 141D

Phonemic Awareness: Review sounds: focus on /el/le

Phonics: read and spell /el/ words and high frequency words (each, great, other, place, school, talk, together) Students will complete practice page 30. Students read sentences and circle the one that tells about each picture. Teacher will use teacher book page 109H High-Frequency Words. Students will read the high-frequency words and write each word in the correct sentence.

Read: “Friends Forever” pp 112-137 Teacher Read Aloud page 142-143 Words that end with le. Reread for fluency. Student practice page 38. Students will complete each sentence with the correct word. Students will take a story test.

Language Arts: Writing: Students will list the plants and animals they have seen.

Grammar: Students will review names of days from teacher book pp 143B.

Friday---- Day 5 “Friends Forever”

Oral Language: Sharing Literature, Big Book “From Head to Toe”.

Phonics: Focus on Blends with l from the teacher book page 143G. Students will complete practice page 39. Students will complete the sentence using the correct inflections –er, -est.

Phonemic Awareness: Review sounds: focus on initial blends with l and inflections –er, -est

Phonics: Initial blends with l and inflections –er, -est (each, great, other, place, school, talk, together) Teacher writes the high-frequency words on the board and students share sentences with each word. Teacher will use teacher book page 143J. Students use the high-frequency words to complete the sentences.

Read: “Friends Forever” From pp 112-137 Reread for fluency. Students will make a cut and fold book “A Jumping Pet”. Students can read the book in class and take it home to read.

Language Arts: Writing : Cartoon Dialogue: Students will draw a cartoon and add dialogue in speech balloons.

Grammar: Students will review names of days from teacher book page 143N.
