6th Grade Research Project on Care for God’s Creation

Test/Project Grade

You are being asked to complete a research project based on one of the Seven Themes of Catholic Social Teaching. Your research theme is Care of God’s Creation.

As discussed in class, you need to use this theme as a guide to researching an environmental topic that is affecting the world today. As the first step of this project, you need to come up with three research questions that you will attempt to answer. Class time was given in both Religion and Literature to come up with these questions, and guidance toward narrowing down a topic will be given to all who need it.

The three research questions that I came up with as a class example were:

1. What is water pollution?

2. How does it negatively affect our health?

3. What can I do to help stop water pollution?

Your project will need to answer these questions with specific examples. You will need to do outside research to answer these questions. You are required to use three outside sources (at least one for each) to answer these questions. The outside sources will then need to be documented on a works cited page to be handed in on the due date of the project.

Proper citation methods will be reviewed in class and can also be found on the Purdue OWL website that we have been referencing all year.

You will also need to provide one visual aid to go along with your project. Your visual aid can be a poster board with pictures or statistics on it. It may also be a brief video of your own making, or even a Powerpoint with pictures or information in it. Speak to me directly if you need personal guidance on your visual aid.

Your presentation will be given in front of the class and it must be 2-3 minutes long. You may take notes, an outline, or index cards up with you to aid in your presentation, but these items do not need to be handed in.

The project is due on Monday, May 15. We will be working on this in class.
