Grading Procedures

Assignments fall into these categories: Major Reading& Writing Grades (60%)Daily Grades (40%).Tests days for this 2015-2016 year are Monday and Wednesday. Every three weeks parents will receive either a progress report or report card. Progress reports and report cards must be signed and returned within three days.

Late Work

Daily assignments will be acceptedup to three days late for a deduction of 20 points each day up to a 50%. Major assignments and projects may be accepted with a 10 point deduction for each day late up to a 50%. Effort must reflect the quality of 50% or higher to be considered for credit. If assignments are not received within the 6th week marking period, a zero is recorded.

Expectations

Students are expected to bring their T-Wolf Trackers to class every day and record their assignments. Please check their T-Wolf Tracker often to see that they are writing down their assignments in all their subject areas.

Make-up Work

It is the responsibility of the student to request and make up all work when absent. The student will have the same number of days to complete the assignment as the days absent.

Weekly Tests

In order to keep students from having all of their tests on one day of the week, it is necessary to schedule weekly tests. The test days will be Mondayand Wednesday.

Dictionaries

Dictionaries are available for classroom use, but students having their

own dictionary is highly encouraged, especially as they are allowed to have their own for STAAR testing.

Textbooks

Literature books will be issued upon parent request to each student to keep at home. Classroom sets of bothliterature and grammar books will be available for use in the classroom. Each student will also be given a literature workbook called Reader’s Notebook.

Handwriting

Students will be expected to complete assignments in a legible and orderly fashion. Cursive handwriting will be a skill they need to work on at home. We realize that this skill may have not been perfected and will work with students to learn proper cursive handwriting skills. Please practice at home and use this internet site to work with your child.

Students are expected to follow these classroom rules: Be Prompt, Be Prepared, BePolite, and Be productive.

At Schindewolf we pride ourselves on being responsible, respectful and ready to learn!

Please sign and return this information sheet. Students will keep thisin their binder for future reference. Thank you for your support, and I am looking forward to working with your son or daughter this year. We will work together for their success!
