6th Annual Wake Forest University Healthcare Strategy Conference and Case Competition Rules

March 13-14, 2015

Rules and Procedures for the Competition

1. Teams must have a minimum of three members and no more than five members. At least one team member must be currently enrolled in the MBA program at the school they represent. All other members must be currently enrolled in a graduate level program at the same institution.

2. Multiple teams from each school may apply. However, each student can only register as part of one team. In the event that multiple teams apply from one school, at most, only one team from that school will be selected to compete.

3. Team members are strictly forbidden from obtaining assistance from anyone outside their own team once the case is distributed. This includes other students, faculty* and outside business or professional agency personnel - including employees of the sponsor company. Once the case has been distributed to the teams, there is to be no illegal contact outside the team. Illegal contact can be defined as assistance with any aspect of the case itself - offering assistance in analyzing the case, listening to the team's presentation and offering feedback, etc. If a team is found to have breached these rules, the team will be automatically disqualified from the competition. *Teams are allowed to train with faculty members in preparation for the competition.

4. Teams will not be allowed contact with the sponsor other than during the question and answer session held on the Friday evening of the competition. During this session, at least one representative from each team will be required to attend. This will be the only time teams will be able to clarify points made in the case study and ask general questions of the sponsor.

5. Teams are encouraged to conduct research outside the case including, but not limited to the internet, academic or industry journals and the Business School library.

6. Teams are permitted to use any academic or industry text.

7. Teams are required to use their own laptops. However, teams will have access to network printers while competing at Wake Forest University.

8. Internet access will be available throughout Wake Forest Biotech Place.

9. For presentation purposes, a Power Point presentation is highly recommended.

10. Electronic copies of an executive summary (of no more than three pages in length, 12 pt. Times New Roman font, single-spaced with one-inch margins) and all presentation slides are due at 8:00 am on the Saturday of the Competition. USB memory drives will be provided to all teams for document submission. Hard copies of these documents will be distributed to the judges and serve as references during the presentations. All documents will become the property of Wake Forest Healthcare Strategy Conference and Case Competition.

11. There is a maximum of five presenters for each team; the minimum number of presenters is three. The alternate may not participate in the technical side of the presentation (e.g. control the slide presentation), but are allowed to participate in the question and answer period.

12. Creative presentation aids are allowed, but are up to the discretion of each team. Teams are free to use any services provided by FedEx Office's or other copy centers. If you are uncertain about a particular item, please consult a co-chair.

13. Teams will not be allowed to present until copies of the case are turned in on Saturday morning.

14. Edits to the executive summary or the Power Point presentation will not be permitted after submission of materials at 8:00 am on the Saturday of the competition.

15. At no time should a team divulge the name of the school they represent to the judges before they have made their final decisions at 6:00 pm. Your team will be referenced only by a code name, which will be assigned on the Friday of the competition.

The Wake Forest University Schools of Business enforces an Honor Code, as do most MBA programs. All teams are on their honor to adhere to the competition rules and procedures. Please verify any uncertainty you may have with the Competition Co-Chairs before taking action.
