1.  What type of publication are you evaluating? What is the title and year/date?

2.  How many pages long is this publication?

3.  Leaf through the publication then list the total number of business advertisements that appear.

4.  Count the number of full page business advertisements that appear in the publication.

5.  Count the number of half page business advertisements that appear in the publication.

6.  Count the number of one-quarter page business advertisements that appear in the publication.

7.  Count the number of one-eighth page(business card size) advertisements that appear in the publication.

8.  Does the publication contain vanity advertisements as well? Ex. Congrats, Bonnie Sue Hilliard! We can’t believe you’re ready for high school. Love, Mamaw and Pawpaw If so, count these.

10.  What percent of the publication is dedicated to advertising? (Count the number of advertising pages and divide by the total number of pages in the publication.)

These figures are typical, but may not be specific for your school publication. You are just getting a solid idea of how much money your publication may be generating. This will give you a good idea of how much money it takes to produce a school publication…they rarely make a profit from year to year! ADVERTISING REVENUE TOTAL:
