Market Engagement Registration for the Urban Connected Communities Project
- Introduction
This document sets out the process to register for market engagement for organisations interested in the Urban Connected Communities project being developed by the DCMS 5G Testbeds and Trials Programme.
Public sector authorities registering separately with an expression of interest in the project do not need to register for market engagement.
Please also see the Urban Connected Communities - Overview document for further information about the project.
- Purpose
The purpose of this market engagement exercise is to solicit views and feedback from interested organisations to inform the 5G Testbeds and Trials Programme’s development of an Urban Connect Communities project. This will include the following areas (among others):
- The potential scope of a project.
- The high level requirements to inform what is required for successful delivery of what will become a complex programme of interrelated projects.
- Potential commercial approaches to the delivery and sustainability of a project.
We will make available information to all registering organisations and we will welcome feedback. We will also invite organisations to events for further discussion. Initial events will take place in May and June 2018, with potentially further follow up communications and events subsequently.
Local offices of national private sector asset owners and service providers should consider asking their head office to register as part of this market engagement exercise.
There is no deadline for registration.
We also encourage organisations interested in the developing 5G ecosystem in the UK to engage with the UK5G Innovation Network. UK5G is the new national innovation network dedicated to the promotion of research, collaboration and the commercial application of 5G in the UK. This ‘network of networks’ will facilitate and encourage the engagement and coordination of organisations working on 5G activities across the UK. It will enhance links between ongoing research and development and other activities being undertaken by organisations across telecoms and other sectors, as well as the testbeds and trials that will be funded through the UK Government’s 5G Testbeds and Trials Programme. It will facilitate the joining up of businesses, large and small, academic institutions and the public sector throughout the UK. For more detail, go to the UK5G website.
- Notices
Please note that registering for market engagement does not constitute any form of prequalification for future engagement in the delivery of the Urban Connected Communities project.
