2017 Application for Church Scholarships
1. Scholarship applications are being accepted for the 2017-2018 college academic school year. This scholarship will be applied starting with the fall semester 2017. The application process will take place in the winter of 2017. There will be no personal interviews.
2. This scholarship is for high school seniors who are actively participating in some way in the life of Visalia United Methodist Church.
3. All applications must be post marked by February 27, 2017.
4. Applications will only be accepted through the US Postal Service mailed to: Visalia United Methodist Church, ATTN: Head of Scholarship Committee,
5200 West Caldwell Avenue, Visalia, CA 93277.
5. The number of scholarship awards will be based on available funds. There will be a cap of $750 per award winner.
6. All applicants will be notified of the committee’s decision.
7. Recipient scholarship awards are mailed directly to the educational institution after verification of enrollment has been received. Additional information will be needed from scholarship award recipients.
8. Please follow the evaluation criteria requests as written.
Evaluation Criteria
1. Please give us a glimpse of your life during the last 4 years. We are looking for information about your school and community involvement (activities, organizations, clubs, honors, GPA, and hobbies).
2. Please give us an understanding of why this scholarship would be helpful.
3. Please tell us about your college major, your chosen college, and your career aspirations after graduating from college.
4. How has your attendance and/or service to VUMC strengthened your faith?
5. How have you participated and/or served at VUMC during the last 4 years?
6. How has your participation in faith based activities outside of VUMC strengthened your faith?
7. How have you participated and/or served in faith based activities outside of your church?
8. Please provide one letter of recommendation from someone not related to you that is 21 years of age or older.
