This program has been designed for physicians, fellows, residents, medical students in the medical specialties of anesthesiology

Series Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Explain the importance of communication with the operating room team in the care and management of the patient
  • Apply the principles of communication in interactions with surgeons and nurses
  • Apply the Guidelines for Perioperative Blood Management to the surgical and obstetric patient
  • Decrease anesthetic complications
  • Improve knowledge in anesthetic principles

Session Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Explain indications for sedation in the intensive care unit (ICU).
  • Apply understanding of sedative side effects in the selection of sedation for a hemodynamically unstable patient.
  • List parenteral non-opioid analgesic options for use in the ICU.
