Annual Awards

Terms of Reference

The awards program was created to recognize and honor outstanding achievements in amateur sport in seven categories. The 10 categories are elite / POA / junior male athlete, elite / POA / junior female athlete, elite /grass-roots coach, team and executive (individual only) of the year.

Guidelines for Nominations

a)Include only information pertaining to the past year's activities.

b)Outline achievements in point form and expand when necessary.

c)Include only achievements directly related to the person or person's role within category nominated.

Areas you may wish to include are:

  • Appointments to international/national board(s) or committee(s).
  • Achievements at the international/national level (national tournaments, etc.)
  • Provincial achievements (new policies in place, increase in registration, etc.)
  • Other highlights over the past year.
  • Where the achievements has been won previously

Rules for Nominations

  1. Nominations must be made in one of the ten categories.
  2. Nominations must be for amateur athletes, amateur teams, amateur coaches or volunteer executive members.
  3. Awards are considered for an outstanding event performance or a series of performances in the season of nomination (September 1 – August 31).
  4. Nominations are only accepted from current NL5PBA zone associations in good standing.
  5. Zone associations will be limited to ONE nomination per category. The selection committee reserves the right to include additional nominations.
  6. Nominations must be received by the NL5PBA secretary before the Annual General Meeting following the nominating season.
  7. Sport Governing Bodies will be limited to ONE nomination per category. The selection committee reserves the right to include additional nominations.
  8. An athlete, team, or individual must maintain a primary resident in Newfoundland and Labrador.
  9. Nominations will not be accepted after the indicated deadline dates.
  10. The final decision regarding nominations and eligibility will rest with the NL5PBA executive.
