Monday

Review

(5 mins) Review Lesson 8-1 vocabulary (use flash cards, let students work in

pairs).

(5 mins) Have each student pick a card and make a sentence with the word (or the

phrase) on it.

New Materials

(5 mins) Introduce new vocabulary by showing flash cards. (5 min)

(35 mins) Introduce the usage of each new word using transparencies.

- Let students make short sentences or just phrases with new words.

- Pair work. Have students read those new words to each other.

- Show them the right stroke order.

Tuesday

Review

(5 mins) Go over vocabulary by showing flash cards.

(5 mins) Vocabulary quiz.

(20 mins)

1. …chule  VPhrase1  yiwai, hai  VPrase2 (Besides…, …also…)

Note: VPhrase1 and VPhrase2 must parallel in terms of semantics. For example:

(1) wo chule xue chongwen yiwai, hai xue riwen.

*wo chule xihuan ting yinyue yiwai, hai xue riwen.

(2) shangge zhoumo women chule kan dianying yiwai, hai ting yinyue.

*shangge zhoumo women chule kan dianying yiwai, hai xihuan ting yinyue.

2. neng and hui

  • neng means having the capacity of doing something.
  • hui means being able to do something as a result of a process of learning.

(1) wo neng he shi-bei pijiu. But *wo hui he shi bei pijiu.

(2) wo yao kaihui, bu neng qu kan dianying.

But *wo yao kaihui, bu hui qu kai dianying.

(3) ta hui shuo yingwen. ?ta neng shuo yingwen.

The example that best reveals the difference between neng and hui is teachers,

after explaining and illustrating, never ask students ‘neng bu neng?’ but

instead ‘hui bu hui?’.

3. yong + object + verb + object

yong zhongwen xie xin.

yong pijiu bei he cha.

Review

(5 mins) Go over vocabulary by showing flash cards- let every student pick a

card and make a sentence with the word/phrase on it.

(5 mins) Go over grammar briefly. (transparencies)

(30 mins)Lesson 8 Dialogue 2

1. Listen to the tape

2. Repeat and let students repeat after the tape slowly and clearly

3. Explain the grammar involved, and, at the same time, ask students the

meaning of the words.

4. Pair work Let students practice the dialogue in pairs.

5. Ask student to Perform if time allows.

5. Answering questions: (or Pair work or writing) Workbook p. 89,

Reading Comprehension Sect. 1-B.

Thursday

Review

(10 mins) Go over Grammar Homework.

Ask students to write down the answers on the blackboard before the teachers arrive the classroom.
