Dear Members and Supporters,

The end of another year! Where has it gone? We are certainly hoping we can have a bit of quiet time now for a couple of weeks. I think we all feel as though we have been run ragged and I know I just need a break. Our foster homes can have a bit of quiet time, our shop volunteers can have a bit of time off and our fundraisers can put their feet up. They all need a well-deserved break. We wonder what next year will bring. Much of the same I am sure.

Most of the animals featured in our last newsletter have now happily been homed. Our dear old staff Poppy has really landed on her feet.

Poor Leo (below left) is still waiting for his happy ending. He is such a lovely boy, and does not deserve to be in rescue. We have fingers and toes crossed for him, that he will soon find someone to love him. We also have Billy (below right), two years old and left tied up outside a vets, playful and energetic, he is now looking for a new home. There are of course always new arrivals, Bella a lovely girl of just one year old is pictured (belowcentre). We still have many cats, lots of youngsters needing homes and many more on the waiting list needing rescue space. It really is relentless.

Our plan is to start work on the refurb needed at the cattery in the New Year... Plans have been made for changes to the cat pens, trying to solve the problem of feral cats who come into us pregnant, trying to make pens quiet and private enough for them to be able to get on with what they have to do, without any undue stress and disturbance. I am not sure how work can begin as yet, until the numbers in the cattery can be reduced, a very difficult environment for work to take place without causing too much upset.

Lucy had an amazing result with her annual Christmas Fayre at Brandeston raising £4226. Abrilliant result, just reward for the months of work put in by her and helpers beforehand. Thanks to all at the Brandeston grotto. Our stall at the Stonham Barns Christmas fayre did £300 another good result. The Occold monthly fayres chose SAR again as their Charity and have a cheque for £232 for us. A big thank you to Barry and his team for their support.

The cattery has been busy trapping ferals for weeks. Mostly finished now, 16 caught at BT, Adastral Park, Martlesham and another 12 from a site in Redlingfield which kept the vets busy for a few weeks, never knowing what was coming in. Many youngsters from both sites are now being socialised ready for homing in the New Year. January is usually good for us, homing peaks and not too many kittens being born. It won't be long before it all starts again in the spring though.
