The Hindu caste and Roman social hierarchy both had social inequalities. In the caste system you were stuck in your class, while the Romans thought your class could change. They both had lower classes guided by upper classes, such as the Roman patron/client relationships.
The Hindu Caste system did not have educated people besides the Brahmin priests, but in the classical and ancient China, it didn’t really matter if people besides rulers were educated because gods chose the Chinese leaders. The caste system was based on skin color unlike the Chinese classes. In both Chinese and the Hindu Caste system the priest or king were the only ones who could communicate with god.
Despite being in different geographic locations of the world, the social inequality in the Hindu caste system and the Roman social system have many similarities; for example, women had a similar role I society. However there are certain differences such as the structures of the classes.
In the Hindu Caste System, the people were restricted to their own social class. Social inequality was experienced as the castes were divided into jatis which varied from class to class. In comparison to the Hindu caste system, Rome was able to rely on other social classes.
The Hindu Caste system differs and compares to other systems of social inequality like that of ancient China. Both societies are ruled by a king or a higher power, however the Caste system is based on skin color while Chinese society is separated by the different occupations.
Social strata is an integral characteristic in most to all complex societies. Two countries that boast this attribute are India and China. Both carry general underlying similarities, such as being fixed social structures and being influenced by their own respective belief systems, but differentiate as well. For instance, the makeup of these two social structures allowed for different products, i.e. little to no social mobility apparent in Hindu caste system where as social mobility was easier to accomplish in Chinese society.
The Hindu Caste was a rather strict social class system, however, the Roman Patron / Client relationship system was a less strict system. In the Hindu Caste System, people believed that you were born into a certain class and that you were only allowed to interact within your own social class, or Jati. Meanwhile, in the Roman Patron / Client relationship system, people were put into classes based on wealth and land ownership. Both social hierarchy systems, however, were unjust, unequal, and caused disputes between people of different classes.
