HOW MR. RICKETTS GRADES THE PROJECT:

4- Project is creative and different in some way. Wide range of activities used, may be original. Exceeds requirements. Instructions are very clear.

3- Workout is well balanced and meets all requirements of project. Instructions are understandable. Exercise times are appropriate. Workout keeps you active. In class research was done.

2- Missing one or two requirements, instructions could be hard to understand, goals are unclear, too easy, or too hard; and/or activity does not provide for a complete workout.

1- Missing more than two requirements, goals missing, instructions are unreadable, and/or lack of planning or research is evident

NOTE TO PARENTS:

Students have 5 different projects to choose from based on their interest and desired involvement level. This differentiated project is a culmination of our fitness unit. During the unit, students experience different fitness workouts, stretches, and fitness tests.

This authentic assessment helps them use higher order thinking skills that will help them in every area of their lives. It helps to show that students can use what they have learned during physical education class. It also shows students that language arts are important inside and outside of the classroom.

I am used throughout this project as a resource and facilitator. Students can come up with their own ideas for exercises to use in their workout. Students also use research skills when selecting parts of their workout from provided idea packets and exercise cards. They may also use exercises that they remember from our fitness unit. Please let your child complete as much of the project by themselves as possible.

Most of the project should have been done during the work and exercise time in our P.E. class.
