Lesson Seven: Triangular Trade
Read the first page together. Create cause/effect chart that determines why Native Americans were not the answer to the need for slaves; then do the same with indentured servants.
Tuesday

Lesson Seven: Triangular Trade
Re-read/skim back through 1st half of text; use powerpoint on triangular trade plus any appropriate resources on the Middle Passage.
Independent/Collaborative Activity (30 minutes) / SCI: 4-3.4 Explain how the tilt of Earth’s axis and the revolution around the Sun results in the seasons of the year
Demonstrate ideas from the text with a flashlight and the inflatable globe. Give students flashlights and Styrofoam balls to be labeled by hemisphere. Video them replicating your demonstration.
Wednesday

Read second half of lesson (on African influences); give students a blank sheet of paper and have them write “Influences of Slave Culture” in a center circle. They can then write or draw the details (from the text) that support the central idea.

Read first section “Native Americans” – use available resources on French and Indian War.
