Objectives
The course provides an introduction to the Electronic Media curriculum and extra curricula, learning resources, academic expectations, and career opportunities.Students are encouraged to explore and identify career goals, and ask questions about the major. On the other hand, students are expected to become aware of professional expectations of the electronic media industries, and be confident of utilizing college education to meet challenges from the ever changing electronic media industry.
Topics
- Develop an awareness of the skills and characteristics needed to become an electronic media professional.
- Understand admission and graduation requirements for the EM major at UNI.
- Explore and begin to define career goals and set up plans of study.
- Identify action steps which could lead to the accomplishment of academic and career-related goals
- Gain an awareness of electronic media and UNI resources that will enhance progress through the program.
- Develop networking with peers in electronic media major, and alumni and professionals in electronic media industries.
Class Organization
- The class emphasizes providing accurate information to students. Therefore, it requires students’ active participation in the class discussion. Please do not hesitate to ask questions.
- Students must attend every week’s session; coming to the class late will be counted as partialabsence.
- Guest speakers will be invited to the class. Students should behave professionally.
- Students must participate in all the field trips to professional organizations.
