4 Betting syndicates busted by Crime Branch during India – Australia World Cup Match.

11 persons arrested.

Lap tops, mobile phones, TV’s, data cards, calculators and note books recovered.

Total bets received by the betting syndicates is around 3.70 crores.

The Crime Branch in its endeavor against betting syndicates operating during the World Cup Cricket Match have till date busted 12 betting syndicates. 4 betting syndicates have been busted during the World Cup Quarter Final Cricket Match held between India and Australia on 24/03/2011. 11 persons have been apprehended. 3 laptops, 55 mobile phones, 1 Data Cards, 4 TVs, 4 calculators and note books have been recovered. Total bets received from the punters are about more than Rs. 3 crores.

3 betting syndicates were busted by a team led by Inspr. Jitender Kundu, W/Inspr. Arti Sharma, Inspr. Rajesh Sharma and consisting of SI. Anil Malik, SI Sharat Kohli, SI Sunil, SI Shiv Darshan, ASI Harcharan, ASI Ajmer Singh, ASI Jagdish, ASI Rishi, ASI. Suresh, HC Ghanshyam, HC Sanjay Singh, HC Narender Dabas, HC Veerpal, HC Naresh, HC Anil, HC Abrar, HC Shyam Lalm, HC Amit Tomar, HC. K P Singh, Ct. Narender, Ct. Dabbu, Ct. Sunny, Ct. Vikas Ct. Virender, Ct. Jai Singh, Ct. Atul, Ct. Kaushal, Ct. Suresh and Ct. Neeraj under the supervision of Addl.DCP Joy Tirkey.

On specific information the following places were raided:-

1)Tri Nagar, Keshav Puram, Delhi.

2)Vishnu Garden, Vikas Puri, Delhi.

3)Budh Vihar, Sultan Puri, Delhi.

From the premises at Tri Nagar, Keshav Puram, Delhi 3 persons were apprehended who were identified as i) Ajay Kumar (aged 43 years) s/o Raman Lal Sharma r/o Tri Nagar, Delhi, ii) Prehlad Keshwani (aged 38 years) s/o Krishan Kumar Keshwani r/o Old Rajender Nagar, Delhi and iii) Ankur Kumar Bhutani (aged 33 years) s/o Balraj Bhutani r/o Rohini, Delhi. They had received bets from the punters worth Rs. 1.5 Crore. 30 mobile phones, 2 laptops, 1 TV, 1 calculator and note book were recovered from them. A case under the appropriate sections of the law was registered.

From the premises at Vishnu Garden, Vikas Puri, Delhi 3 persons were apprehended who were identified as i) Bimal Kumar (aged 47 years) s/o Anand Prakash r/o Vikaspuri Delhi, ii) Gaurav Sharma (aged 26 years) s/o Bhupender Nath r/o Vikaspuri, Delhi and iii) Sanjay Bakshi (aged 36 years) s/o Baldev Raj Bakshi r/o Vishnu Garden, Delhi. They had received bets from the punters worth Rs. 75 Lacs. 12 mobile phones, 1 TV, 1 calculator and note books were recovered from them. A case under the appropriate sections of the law was registered.

From the premises at Budh Vihar, Sultan Puri, Delhi 2 persons were apprehended who were identified as i) Narender Kumar (aged 41 years) s/o Pyare Lal r/o Budh Vihar, Phase-I, Delhi and ii) Suresh Kumar (aged 41 years) s/o Deep Chand r/o Budh Vihar, Phase-I, Delhi. They had received bets from the punters worth Rs. 65 Lacs. 4 mobile phones, 1 TV, 1 calculator and note books were recovered from them. A case under the appropriate sections of the law was registered.

The fourth betting syndicate was busted by a team led by Inspr. Arvind Kumar and consisted of SI Shivraj Tyagi, ASI Ravinder Kumar, HC Sukhbir, HC Raj Kumar, HC Surender, HC Rohtash and Ct. Sanjay under the supervision of ACP M.C. Katoch and overall supervision of Addl.DCP P.S. Kushwah.

On specific information a house in Sadh Nagar, Palam Colony, Delhi was raided and 3 persons were apprehended who were identified as i) Deepak Pundir @ Bitto (aged 32 years) s/o Swaraj Singh Pundir r/o Sadh Nagar, Palam Colony, Delhi, ii) Ranjeet Singh Saini @ Sonu (aged 30 years) s/o Beer Singh Saini r/o Sadh Nagar-II, Palam Colony, Delhi and iii) Sachin Gupta aged 24 years) s/o Ram Kailash Gupta r/o Palam Village, Delhi. 1 laptop, 9 mobile phones, 1 data card, 1 TV, 1 calculator and note books were recovered. They had received bets from the punters worth Rs.80 Lacs. A case under the appropriate sections of the law was registered.

The modus operandi of betting is that the rates of the odds between the two cricket playing teams originate from outside India. On the basis of that, the bets are taken during the match. After the match is over, profit and losses are calculated by a specifically generated software known as “Back 'N' Lay Pro'. The rates keep fluctuating with the fall of wickets and the runs scored. The laptop is used by them for data entry and management. The mobile phones are used for getting the rates of the odds on the match and for taking bets from the punters. The recording facility on the mobile phone is used for keeping records of the bets placed by the punters. One set of mobile phones are specifically used for receiving the rates o betting which fluctuates ball by ball. Apart from receiving rates on telephone they also receive the rates on internet for which they use the data cards. The data for betting was also maintained manually on the notebooks as a back up. Where laptops were not used, note books were maintained manually for keeping the data of betting.

Gang of Desperate Burglars & Auto Lifters arrested by Special Staff of South East District & Five cases of Burglary & auto theft solved.

With the arrest of five persons namely 1) Hilal, aged 20 years, 2) Mohd. Shahin, aged 21 years, 3) Ram Kishan, aged 21 years, 4) Javed, aged 19 years & 5) Manoj Sharma, aged 24 years, the Special Staff of South East Distt. has busted a gang of desperate burglars & auto lifters & solved five cases of burglary & auto theft.

TEAM & INVESTIGATION:-

In order to prevent the incidents of burglary and auto thefts in South East District, the team of Special Staff South East District was specially asked to look into the matter. In view of this a team of Special Staff South East Distt was constituted under the leadership of Inspr. Akhilesh Yadav, Incharge Special Staff consisting of SIs Brijesh Malik, Ashish Dalal, ASI Bhagirath Prashad, HCs Anil Kumar, Surender, Jeet Singh, Satender, Ram Mehar, Consts. Deepak, Arun Kumar, Sunil, Brijpal Malik, Vikram, Sushil, Rajiv, Ramroop, Sunil Nagar, Brijpal, Bhal Singh and Satish under the overall supervision of Sh. Virender Kalia ACP/Ops. to develop intelligence regarding such gangs operating in the district. The team received some credible information regarding some criminals operating in South East District. The information was further developed. On the basis of a credible information the above team arrested five persons namely 1) Hilal, aged 20 years, 2) Mohd. Shahin, aged 21 years, 3) Ram Kishan, aged 21 years, 4) Javed, aged 19 years & 5) Manoj Sharma, aged 24 years. On the instance of accused Javed & Manoj Sharma two stolen motorcycles and two stolen cars were recovered from their possession, respectively. With the arrest of Hilal & Mohd. Shahin five mobile phones, 44 Mobile phone batteries and recharge coupons of different cellular companies were recovered from their possession. On the instance of Hilal and Shahin one receiver of stolen property namely Ram Kishan was arrested and one mobile phone and recharge coupons worth Rs. 3013/- of different cellular companies were recovered from his possession. On enquiry all the recovered items were found stolen from a mobile shop in the area of PS Govindpuri, New Delhi. On the search of accused Hilal’s rented room one stolen TV, one DVD player make-LG, one computer CPU and two mobile phones were also recovered.

INTERROGATION & MODUS OPERANDI:-

On sustained interrogation the accused Hilal & Shahin disclosed that they used to visit shops along with their associates Karan Singh and Mohd. Mallik in order to recce the shop during day and after that during night they come in a van with house breaking equipments and commit the burglary after breaking the shutter of the shop. They only steal the costly items and cash and leave the empty boxes there only.

On sustained interrogation accused Javed disclosed that his associates Karan Singh & Mohd. Mallik are previously involved in different types of crimes like robbery, burglary, auto-theft & snatching. After committing the crime they stay with accused Javed and park the vehicles which they used in commission of crime within the premises of Javed. Presently Karan Singh & Mohd. Mallik left Delhi and went to Gujrat. On their direction accused Javed was disposing off both the stolen motorcycles which were parked in his premises.

After sustained interrogation accused Manoj Sharma disclosed that he is in the business of auto-lifting for the last one year with his associate Rajesh. After stealing the car he hands over the same to Rajesh. Rajesh used to dispose of the same somewhere in Rajasthan as he is a native of Toda Bhim, Distt. Dausa, Rajasthan. The recovered cars were yet to be disposed off.

HIRED KILLERS ARRESTED

Staff of PP MIG Rajouri Garden apprehended the dacoits vide case FIR No. 106/11, dated 25/3/11, U/S 399/402/34 IPC and 25/54/59 Arms Act at PS Rajouri Garden, Delhi.

INFORMATION AND OPERATION

During patrolling in the intervening night of 24/25.3.2011, a secret information was received to ASI Sukhbir Singh that some criminal persons will come to J-10 block with the purpose of dacoity in the grey colour Indica Car. This information was brought into the knowledge of SI Sanjay, I/C PP MIG and SHO/Rajouri Garden. Immediately, acting upon the information a raiding party comprising of ASI Sukhbir Singh, HC Sugan Singh, No. 103/W, HC Lokendra, No. 942/W, Ct. Hari Singh, No. 723/W, Const. Mahesh, No. 715/W and Const. Panna Lal, No. 1361/W under the supervision of SHO/Rajouri Garden and under the guidance of Sh. J.K.Sharma ACP/Rajoujri Garden was constituted. A trap was laid at park, opposite CambridgeSchool, Subhash Nagar, Delhi. At about 10.30 PM, a car No. HR- 03C- 9398 TATA Indica came and 5-6 persons came out and went into the park. After confirmation about their intention and on pointing out of informer, three persons were apprehended namely Balbir Singh, Maha Singh @ Bagga and Yadvendra Singh. But some of their associates fled away.

INTERROGATION/MODUS OPERANDI:

During sustain interrogation, it is revealed that accused persons are Taxi drivers by profession and basically belong to Patiala District, Punjab. All accused persons were facing financial crisis and were unable to meet their both ends. One Sh. Surinder Jeet Minto, R/o Gali No. 8, Patel Nagar, Nabha, Patiala, Punjab is a friend of main accused Balbir Singh had a business dispute with one Dubai based business man Sh. Vipin Talwar, R/O J- 10/10, Rajouri Garden, New Delhi. Sh. Surinder Jeet Minto is a close friend of main accused Balbir Singh and he shared the information with him and his friends. All hatched a conspiracy that Vipin Talwar is coming in India on 22/3/11 from Dubai with lot of jewellery articles and huge amounts, if he is robbed, they can get lot of jewellery and huge amounts and will share equally. On this, all accused persons prepared a plan of dacoity. Surinder Jeet Singh Minto paid twenty thousand rupees to them as advance for this act.

Staff involved in the good work is being rewarded suitably.

CONFISCATION OF COUNTERFIET KINGSTON’S PEN DRIVE

Police Station Con. Place unearthed a racket of sale of counterfeit Kingston’s Pen Drive at Palika Bazar. Hundreds of fake pen drives were recovered during the search operations.

The police had been intermittently receiving the information of sale of counterfeit pen drives. Simultaneously a complaint was received from Sh. Vimal Kak an authorized representative of M/s Kingston Technology based in US against the sale of spurious pen drives of make Kingston at different parts of Delhi including Palika Bazar, Con. Place. As per his revelations, their company has copy right of such products and no one can sell the product of Kingston Technology without the permission of the company’s officials The information was developed by the team comprising of SI K.K. Mishra Ct. Girish and Ct. Ajay Kumar of Police Station Con. Place under the supervision of SHO Con. Place and overall supervision of ACP/Con. Place. The team worked hard, made discrete enquiries and consolidated the information on few suspected persons. Eventually, the raid was conducted and the police team succeeded in nabbing the accused Vinod Kumar who was exhibiting fake Kingston pen drives for sale at his shop in Palika Bazar, Con. Place. The accompanying official of Kingston Technology pointed out the fake pen drives in the packing of Kingston, displayed at the counter of the shop. The same were taken into police custody through seizure memo. The raid was promptly conducted at two more shops at Palika Bazar and many fake pen drives and memory cards of make Kingston were recovered in total 454 counterfeit products were recovered.

The case vide FIR No. 54/2011 U/S 63 Copy Right Act 1957 was registered. The gullible shoppers visiting Palika Bazar were being duped by these alleged traders by carrying out these illegal activities. Apart from the above accused, two more persons viz. Amit Kumar & Tanuj Sharma have also been arrested in the case. The investigation of the case is progress.
