The Sun, Shadows and the Seasons

  1. Where does the Sun rise and where does it set?
  1. How does the Sun “move” in the sky from sunrise to sunset?
  1. How does the Sun’s position in the sky change over a day?
  1. What are shadows and what causes them? Be clear and specific with your language.
  1. In what ways do shadows change during the day? (Be SPECIFIC and remember our experiment outside with the chalk.)What causes shadows to change during the day?
  1. What causes the seasons? Be able to describe this clearly in words and pictures!
  1. What are Hemispheres? What divides the Northern and Southern hemisphere? How do the seasons relate to the hemispheres?
  1. How is the Earth positioned? What is rotation? What is revolution?

When studying for science tests, you will need to take home your science book, your notebook (any notes you have taken during class), and your science folder using any worksheets we have gone over during the course of the unit. Be able to clearly answer ALL study guide questions. Go online to the Assumption school website and look under my name to see the various videos we have watched in class. Re-watch them at home if that is helpful!
