3D Edible Cell Model Instructions

Your project must have: I) a 3D MODEL (edible preferred – but not required) and II) a KEY to the cell parts

I. MODEL – Make a 3 dimensional edible model of a cell (choose plant or animal). SHOW all parts listed (see below) and NUMBER all parts.

? For edible cells you can use materials such as a cake, cookie, pizza, bread, macaroni, dry cereal, icing, candies, chocolate chips, candy sprinkles, pizza toppings, etc.

? For non-edible cells you can use materials such as styrofoam, cardboard, wood, paper, play-dough, string, buttons, pipe cleaners, beads, yarn, etc.

? Be creative, you don’t need to spend money to make the cell model.

?Number each cell part using a toothpick and a paper flag.

? Make sure parts and numbers are securely attached to your model.

? Cell model must be 3-D, it cannot be flat like a poster.

? Do not use pins.

?PUT YOUR NAME ON MODEL!!

?Identify your cell as plant or animal using a LABEL.

Parts to include:

PLANT CELL

____ Cell membrane

____ Cell wall

____ Chloroplast

____ Cytoplasm

____ Mitochondria

____ Nucleus

____ Nuclear membrane

____ Golgi bodies

____ Endoplasmic reticulum

____ Nucleolus

____ Central Vacuole

____ Chromosomes

____ Ribosomes

ANIMAL CELL

____ Cell membrane

____ Cytoplasm

____ Mitochondria

____ Nucleus

____ Nuclear membrane

____ Golgi bodies
