Dear Retired Member
I have much pleasure in inviting you to the North West Regional Meeting of the Retired Members Forum at 10.45 on Friday 10th October 2014 at the Liverpool Medical Institution, 114 Mount Pleasant, Liverpool L3 5SR.
The BMA is clearly seeking to demonstrate its policy to do more for retired members, of which there are over 11,000 throughout the country. We hope that by holding meetings regionally it will encourage retired members who do not wish to come to London to convene and discuss common issues. We think the format is a good one for the age group for which the meeting is intended, as it comprises a late start, a leisurely lunch and an early finish. However, we hope that you will find the meeting highly conducive to lively discussion at which you will be able to raise any topics that you feel should be raised.
Our guest speakers are Professor Mike Wroblewski, FRCSEd, with a talk entitled ‘Orthopaedics in the North West’ and Professor Averil Mansfield, FRCS, with a talk entitled ‘Gender Equality in Medicine and Surgery’. You will also be given an update on ‘Maximising Investments’ and ‘Inheritance Tax’ from Georgina Hodgson, Financial Adviser, BMA Services.
Above all, we want to make retired doctors feel wanted by the Association, and to pinpoint those areas where retired members still have a great deal to offer to both the Association and to society in general.
Please let Sue Moran know if you would like to attend by completing and returning the attached reply slip (by Wednesday, 1st October at the latest). Please note that places are limited to 50 and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
Arrangements have been made to use the Metropolitan Cathedral car park(which is just across the road from the LMI). If you are travelling by car and require a permit, please indicate this on the reply slip below. If you are travelling by train, the LMI is a 5 minute taxi ride from Lime St Station.
