Dear former member or friend of the Kevock Choir,
2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the choir and we would be so pleased if you were able to join us for a couple of celebratory events in May 2017.
On Saturday 13th May we hold our 50th Annual Concert in Edinburgh’s Queen’s Hall. The repertoire has been chosen by our Conductor Graham Lovett in conjunction with current members and will show a great variety of music from every era of the choir. The final group of songs is designed as a mini Kevock Choir concert, with opening anthem piece, folk song, light music and a big ending and we hope that as many former members as possible will join us on stage at this point to sing with the choir. The proposal for the joint pieces is
1. With a Voice of Singing
2. Shenandoah
3. I Dreamed a Dream
4. Battle Hymn of the Republic
For anyone in the area, there will be the opportunity to come along to part of an additional practice for the choir on Thursday evening 11th May at a time to be arranged and have a sing through – but joining in simply on the concert day itself will also be possible. Tickets for the concert will range in price from £6 to £14, with concessions available – and if you are a current Friend of the Choir for 2017, you will be eligible for a discount of £1.50 per Friends Ticket and a free programme. The annual sub for Friends is £10 for one, or £18 for two, with communication to the same address.
The other event is our anniversary dinner on Saturday 20th May in the Brunton Hall, Musselburgh. Again, it would be wonderful if every ticket were sold and we were able to celebrate with choir members from across the years, and their partners if you wish. Tickets are £35 each and the evening will run from 6.30 pm to 11 pm, with entertainment and reminiscing featuring highly.
