Dear Parents/Guardians:

Hard to believe that we are already in the process of planning for the 2018-2019 school year!

That said, we will be holding our annual New Primary French Immersion Information Session for parents considering registering their child in our Early French Immersion Program on Wednesday, February 21st. Please note that this meeting is for new primaries and we strongly encourage you take part if you are considering enrolling your child in this program. The meeting is scheduled to take place @ 7:00pm in our school cafeteria.

Another important event on the horizon for New Primaries includes our Primary Registration process which is scheduled for March 8th and 9th. If you have a child who will be starting Grade Primary at New Minas Elementary School in 2018, please phone the school right away. Please note that the cut-off age for new primaries starting school is December 31st of the year they are to start school.

Please keep in mind that there will be no school for students in Mme Boudreau, Ms. Murphy/Bredin, Ms. Willoughby or Mme Peters on March 8th and 9th.

Furthermore, if you know of any child that will be coming to our school for the very

first time in 2018, please provide those families with our contact information in order to ensure that they are accounted for. Accurate student enrollment numbers is critical in order to create balanced and equitable classes for all students.

On another note, I would like to take this opportunity to highlight two additional events happening during the month of February which I strongly encourage students and families to take part in. The African Talent Show which takes place on February 21st and the Regional Science Fair, which takes place between April 3rd and 6th. Both of these initiatives allow students to show case their many skills, talents and interests and are always a big hit. Remember that whatever you do to support your child educationally, this interaction with you will help them grow emotionally, socially and academically. This in turn will foster enthusiasm and confidence about learning in general. Though our school will not be doing a school based project fair this year, we would be happy to facilitate your child taking part in the Regional Fair if they so desire.
