It’s Time to Apply!!

The Dufrocq School will host its Magnet School Showcase on Tuesday, November 2, 2016 from 9:30am until 1:00pm.A short assembly is planned in the auditorium to learn about our two amazing magnets – Academic and Montessori. Following the assembly, parents will have an opportunity to tour classrooms of both Magnets. Magnet applications are being accepted October 31 – December 5, 2016. Montessori will be accepting applications for PreK3-Kindergarten; Academic Magnet will be accepting applications for Kindergarten -5th grades.

Staff Highlight

Dr. Mary Jo Kelly –School Librarian

Mary Jo Kellyis a Nationally Certified librarian at Dufrocq where she is moderator of the Reading Industry Maker Space Project. She has been a librarian for 19 years. Earlier she was a middle school principal and a teacher of speech, journalism, social studies, and English atmiddle and high schoolsfor 25 years.

Progress Reports

The 4 ½ weeks progress report will go home with students on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. If a parent-teacher conference is needed for this period, please contact your child’s teacher or call the administrative office at (225) 334-7653.

Student Work Packets

Student Work Packets will go home with students on Wednesday, November 9 and 30, 2016. Please review the work samples and return envelope with signature.

World’s Finest Candy Sale

Thank you for supporting the candy sale, our major fundraiser for school supplies and instructional resources. The delivery of candy to the school will be during the week of November 11, 2016. Parents will be notified by the administrative office to pick up large orders of candy.

Picture Re-Take Day

The photographer from Lifetouch School Portraits will be at Dufrocq on Wednesday, November16, 2015 for picture re-takes. Only parents who purchased pictures and were not satisfied with the pictures will have an opportunity to retake. Also, students who were absent from school on picture day would be allowed to take pictures.

THANKSGIVING LUNCHEON FOR PRE-K-2ND GRADE STUDENTS AND PARENTS

Parents of students in Prekindergarten through 2nd grades are invited to attend the Thanksgiving Luncheon on Thursday, November 17, 2016. The price for the lunch is $4.00 (cash only) and reservations must be made on or before Wednesday, November 16, 2016 to allow the cafeteria staff to order the amount of food needed. Thanks for your cooperation and support. Please see the schedule below for the time your child’s teacher is scheduled for lunch.

Our first PTO meeting of the year will be held Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. Please come out and hear the plans for this year as we work together with the teachers and staff to enhance the vision and mission of our school. The meeting will last only one hour!
