BUSINESS EXPERIENCE
President/Owner - All Glass Minnesota, Inc. (1995 – Present)
Founded company in 1995 and built it from break even in April of 1997 to a profit of $784,000 in 2001. While managing all aspects of a growing business, simultaneously founded a statewide auto glass trade association to lobby and facilitate industry-wide communication and cooperation in solving common issues facing auto glass companies. Was elected Vice President of the national auto glass trade association and was recognized by them in 2002 for “outstanding commitment and service to the industry”.
President/Owner - Hudson Bay Company (1978 – 1994)
Founded Hudson Bay Company in 1978 for the purpose of consulting with non-profit organizations in communications, fundraising, lobbying strategy, program development and administration. Originated the discipline of organizing and raising funds via door-to-door canvassing. Hudson Bay Company grew to supervise 2,000 employees in 45 cities collectively raising 25,000,000 per year to benefit a variety of non-profit consumer, environmental and citizen lobbying organizations. In addition, oversaw the development of software that managed client databases of 6,000,000 donors serving 800 telephone campaign workers in 12 cities. Ran the field and phone campaigns for dozens of candidates at the local, state and national level. Assisted both 501 (c) 3 and 501 (c) 4 non-profits in their compliance with relevant IRS codes.
Founder/Executive Director - Illinois Public Action Council (1976-1994)
Responsibilities included: managing all aspects of a statewide non-profit corporation dedicated to issues affecting moderate income people such as, utility rate reform, pollution abatement, the family farm crisis and crime. Developed and raised an annual budget of $1,500,000, developed and implemented strategic plan, hired and supervised staff of 60 people statewide, acted as liaison to and staff for a board of 21 representing a broad and diverse segment of the community.
Founder/Executive Director - Citizens for a Better Environment (1971 -1976)
Started and built a grass roots organization which repeatedly sued US Steel and various utilities for pollution violations around the Chicago metropolitan area. Grew the organization into five states, including developing annual budget, strategic plan, program development, staff supervision and board relations.
