(d) (20090731)Congratulations for receiving grants from the Global Environment and Conflict Resolution Program of the CICR of Columbia University

Dear Sam:
(1) Many thanks for your msgs (ATTACHMENT I and III) in response to the Reference (a) above.
My wholehearted congratulations to your retirement and beginning of your own life!!
I greatly appreciate your interest in and offer of help to our projects. You will be a great asset to our projects.
(2) As I might have mentioned to you when we met at the Quarter Club in Manhattan a few months ago, we would be greatly privileged if we can have you as a Canadian contact for our GCEPG/GSEEED/GUS projects.
Pls kindly provide us with;

(a) your brief bio, photo, -- see ANNEX I: List of Working Group Members
(b) your letter of participation -- see ANNEX II: Letters from key collaborating or participating organizations/individuals

(3) For our GCEPG/GSEEED projects, we will have;

(a) Prof. Onishi’s FUGI model in econometrics, which has 200 country and UN sector sub-models — see Reference (b) above, and
(b) Millennium Institute’s system dynamics model — which is now consummating an agreement of constructing such models of 15 member countries of Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), -- MI is considering to construct models of 100 other countries in the next two years — see Reference (c) above.

Our approach is to have each country model be autonomously refined, improved and administered by the experts of those countries., and yet those models to be interconnected each other to form a single global scale simulation model.
I would then greatly appreciate it if you can locate appropriate Canadian group who has such Canadian national energy/economic simulation mode (either econometrics or system dynamics), and who can work with us together.

BTW, as mentioned in my previous list distributions, we are planning to hold a conference/workshop of this GCEPG/GSEEED projects in the next spring semester with the CICR of Columbia University and Polytechnic Institute of NYU. You may then schedule to attend it.

Global e-learning of GUS would then come to enhance the GCEPG/GSEEED project team activities.
(4) As for funding, I would greatly appreciate it if you can kindly start contemplating how to get some fund from the International Development Research Centre of Canadian government — particularly for those projects of our colleagues in Lebanon and Nigeria — see Reference (d) above — which already have been financially supported by the Italian government to kickoff their projects. We are also preparing to get funds from the US and Japanese governments.
Dear Tapio:
(5) You are really glob trotter!! Pls have a very pleasant and safe trip to China.
Best, Tak

Tapio,
Glad to see that you are in demand. We need to inspire/recruit more
young people to move these projects and this agenda forward. My plans
include being in India (Pune) the first part of 2010, working with a
group of dalit (untouchable) organizations on the uses of information
technology in the pursuit of human rights.
Regards, Sam
