Tours and Excursions:

There are many things to do in Uganda in general, and in Entebbe or Kampala in particular. However, all tours and excursions you wish to undertake before, during or after the conference is your own responsibility and for your own account.

For maps of Uganda, you can go to various internet sites and on-line shops.

For information about excursions and safaris, you can consult The Eye Magazine. It provides "The Insider's Guide to Uganda" on a bi-monthly basis, and can be accessed at

Excursions can be arranged at the hotel in one of the shops offering travel agency services.

Travel and visa arrangements:

Please check with your local medical practitioner or an official travelling doctor in your country about the health precautions you need to take for travelling to and from Uganda. The Department of Health of some countries, for example, require formal records of certain vaccinations that need to be completed before leaving the home country.

Please also note that malaria is endemic to Uganda. Your local medical practitioner or travelling doctor should be consulted prior to departure about precautions you should take in this regard.

Please also check the visa requirements for Uganda before departure. Visas can be obtained beforehand prior to departure in some countries. Visas can also be obtained on payment of US$50.00 cash on arrival at Entebbe International Airport, and the completion of an arrival card that is available on arrival. The procedure to issue these visas are fairly quick, but at busy times in the airport you should budget for some time to getting your visa. On your arrival form, indicate that the purpose of your visit is a conference.

Alternative accommodation:

If you want to stay at an alternative hotel or guest house, offering a wide variety of price ranges, you can consult the list below. In some cases I have been able to verify the prices of rooms, and they are also given in the list below. On the map of Entebbe on BEN-Africa's website, you will be able to see how far some of these hotels or guest houses are from the Lake Victoria Hotel. Some are very near, within walking distance. These contact details are also available in The Eye Magazine ( The contact details in this list is accurate as provided by The Eye Magazine, but cannot be guaranteed by the conference organizers.
