2Health and safety procedures must be followed in accordance with workplace and legislative requirements for all tasks leading to assessment of this standard. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be used throughout operations in accordance with company procedures and manufacturer’s instructions
3Definition
Company procedures refer to all documented policies and procedures of the candidate’s employer at the time of training including, but not limited to, those relating to health, safety, environment, quality, and operations.
Outcomes and performance criteria
Outcome 1
Direct fluxing for hot dip galvanizing.
Performance criteria
1.1Fluxing requirements are determined in accordance with company procedures.
Rangecomponents – solid, plate, hollow, fabricated.
1.2Surface condition of steel is checked for suitability for fluxing.
Rangeincludes but is not limited to – paint, millscale, rust;
may include – antispatter.
1.3Lifting, moving, immersion and supporting of components in fluxing bath is directed in accordance with company procedures.
Rangecomponents – solid, plate, hollow, fabricated.
1.4Removal of jig and components from fluxing solution is directed in accordance with company procedures.
1.5Any fluxing faults are identified and remedies determined and actioned in accordance with company procedures.
Outcome 2
Monitor quality of fluxing for hot dip galvanizing.
Performance criteria
2.1Consistency of the fluxing processes is monitored in accordance with company procedures.
2.2Where applicable, records of fluxing are kept in accordance with company procedures.
