27Th Sunday in Ordinary Time

27th Sunday in Ordinary Time

October 6, 2013 9:30 AM

WELCOME TO WORSHIP ON THIS LORD’S DAY!

We are blessed by your presence and hope that you will experience the love of God reflected in the life of this community of faith. Nursery care is provided from 9:15-11:45 a.m. for ages three and under, though we love to have children of all ages remain with us in worship. Please complete the friendship pad in your row during the announcements and pass it back so that you are able to greet your neighbors by name.

WE GATHER IN JOYFUL EXPECTATION

Greeting & Announcements (L = Leader / P = People / A = All)

L: The Peace of Christ be with you!

P: And also with you!

The Sign of our Belonging

In the waters of baptism, we participate in the death and resurrected life of Jesus Christ.

Prelude “In the Looking Glass” by Lorie Line Peggy Pillers

Call to Worship:

L: We gather, as God’s people, bringing our fears and pain, knowing that when our spirits have grown cold,

P: God rekindles the gift of faith in us.

L: We gather, as God’s people, hanging our broken hearts on the branches of the tree of life, knowing that while friends may turn against us,

P: God transforms enemies into sisters and brothers.

L: We gather, as God’s people, hungering for healing and hope, knowing that even when life is no picnic,

P: God prepares a feast for us.

* Opening Hymn #276 “Great is Thy Faithfulness”

*Unison Prayer of Confession

Heart-seeking God, forgive us. Plant a tiny seed of hope that it might grow into a bouquet for others. Increase our faith until it spills over in thanksgiving to you. Fill us with the love that overwhelms all our complaints and rekindles our desire to faithfully follow Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Time of Silent Personal Confession

* Words of Assurance

L: While our failures and frailty are fresh, God’s grace has been ours before time began. This is great news—we are forgiven.

P: God plants the seed of faith deep within us, growing a harvest of grace and hope. Thanks be to God, who has given us the promise of life in Christ Jesus our Lord! Amen.

* We Praise Our God # 322
