150 rider limit

Two Wheels of Suches has recently opened for motorcycle riders enjoyment in the north Georgia mountains. The 31st annual True Grits 50cc will usher in kind of a grand opening to this recently remodeled facility. More information on Two Wheels of Suches can be found at Great camping facilities are available along with limited lodging in the main building. Yes this is the same place that Maurice met his wife Cindi on a epic Grits adventure. Two Wheels of Suches is located in downtown metro Suches at the intersection of Georgia Highway 60 and Georgia Highway 180.

For the past two years we head quartered our event at the Suches community center and we very much appreciate the hospitality from the volunteer fire department.

We will continue to donate a portion of the entry fee and additional funds donated to some folks who have been an asset to the motorcycle community in the Suches area. Last year the total donated was close to $2600 from our famous cookie sale. Thanks to all who put a little extra on their entry form for our friends in Suches. Additional money was donated to the local high school along with the Dream House for Medically Fragile Children.

We appreciate your pre entry for our event. It helps with our planning as well making the donation in Suches possible. We will be Two Wheels of Suches for rider check in on Friday evening from 7-9pm and again on Saturday morning starting by 8am. Please plan to be in Suches by 11:00 am day of event. Again this year tasty breakfast items as well as hot coffee will be available prior to the start of the event. Lunch items were also available before and after the “Grits”.

The event will be about 100km or about the same distance as an AMA national road race. By the way, the True Grits is not a race rather it is a fun motorcycle event that has managed to last 31 years. If the event goes stupid, we are done and so far we have avoided the fate of ‘bikes gone wild’. The event will start in Suches and will finish in Suches. Trophies will be in you hands by 5pm so you can enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Our costs for the event have gone up in the past few years. We will hold the entry to the same level as last few years. A big thank you goes to Jeff Champion of Champs Clocks in Douglasville for our web site. If you need a cool clock for your home be sure to contact Jeff.

In lieu of an increase we have enacted a volunteer increase of some diapers for the Dream House for Medically Fragile Children. There is a constant need for diapers for all ages of children including some of the adult size diapers.

If you choose to entry after October 1, we are going to shake you down for an additional $5.00 for a late fee.

In addition we will stick to the original plan of a limit of 150 riders.

Questions are welcome. You can email me at or give me a call at 770-329-3259. Our unofficial web site is and look for the 50cc icon. There is something called facebook and I am told there is some page for the ‘Grits’.

I am also involved with a wonderful organization the Dream House for Medically Fragile children. F.A.R.T. is the promoter of record for the April 2013 family off road fun ride at Aonia Motorcycle park as well asthe Dream House 500 on Saturday October 5, 2013. The Dream House 500 is a 500km road event and a dual sport event in the north Georgia mountains. More information can be found at and I would love to see you at one of these fine events for a wonderful community service in the Atlanta area.

Finally, I would like to take the opportunity to thank a few of the folks that have been an asset for our event.
