Friday, September 30th, 2016

5:00 - 5:30 pm Leaders arrival: Set-up and Clean-up:

  • Open all doors
  • Light fire in wood stove
  • Light propane stove
  • Put away groceries, light stove, wash counters, table
  • Sweep floors
  • Test Smoke Detectors

6:00 -6:30 pm Arrival of Cubs:

  • Check-in Cubs upon Arrival/Review Contact Info with Parents
  • Meds: First Aider/Instruct First Aider on Med Details (Rama)
  • Cubs Unpack/Set-up Sleeping Area

6:40 pm Camp Opening

  • Grand howl

6:45 Camp Overview

  • Camp Rules
  • Boundaries
  • Fire safety (General rules about stove/Fire drill “what to do in an emergency”
  • Co-ed Camping - How we handle changing in a coed environment
  • Camp chores: how to wash your own dishes. Put the Cubs into temporary camp sixes and get them to do some basic chores like wiping down the table, sweeping the common area, helping to put away food stuffs and maybe even help with cooking. (Green Star)

7:00 pm – 7:45 pm Free Play Time – (Leader monitored)

  • Cubs free to explore, play, build forts in woods behind cabin (with-in established boundries)

7:45 pm Cubs prepare for Campfire (warm clothes, campfire blanket, flashlights, bathroom run!)

8:00 Campfire

8:45 Mug-up – Hot Chocolate, marshmallows, cookies

9:00 Movie -Lights-out after movie

Saturday October 1st, 2016:

8:00 - Wake-up/dress/Wash-up for Breakfast

8:30 - Breakfast – Cold cereal, toast, orange slices

9:30 - Clean-up from Breakfast/Camp Chores

10:00 - Program: Outdoor Skills:

  • Basics of map reading: Using MLM discusses map reading and compass use (at least briefly) and then takes them on an “Intro to Miller Lake Mainland” hike.
  • Give them a few points to complete a tour and then ask the Cubs to plan out a route.
  • talk about how to dress for the weather
  • Reinforce what to do if lost

10:45am - Morning Snack:

11:00 am - Free Play Time – (Leader monitored)

  • Cubs free to explore, play, build forts in woods behind cabin (with-in established boundries)

12:00 - Noon Cubs Prepare for Lunch

  • Wash-up
  • Get Mess Kit

12:10 - Lunch

12:45 - Wash-up from Lunch/Camp Chores

1:00 - Free Play Time – (Leader monitored)

  • Cubs free to explore, play, build forts in woods behind cabin (with-in established boundries)

1:30 –3:00 pm - Hike:

3:00 - Afternoon Snack

3:15 - Pack-up: Cubs/Leaders pack-up, prepare for departure

3:30–Pickup - Free Play Until Parents Arrive

4:00 - Departure(All Cubs must be checked-off before departing)

Leaders Lock-up:

  • Clean floors/counters
  • Put away all excess dishes
  • Remove garbage
  • Ensure woodstove safe
  • Final sweep for lost and found
  • Lock all doors
