Explanatory notes

1Definitions

Company requirements refer to instructions to staff on policy and procedures, which are communicated in a verbal or written form. These requirements must include legislative and safety requirements and may include but are not limited to – manufacturer’s instructions, industry codes of practice and standards.

Dispatch request refers to the documentation that identifies the seafood goods required for a consignment. This may be referred to by other names such as a – pick list, dispatch note, order request, delivery docket.

Seafood goods include seafood product (in any form) or goods associated with the production of seafood product.

Storage facility may include – environs, temporary storage, containers, cold storage, dry storage, product support areas.

2Legislation relevant to this unit standard includes but is not limited to the: Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992; and may include Food Act 1981 and/or Animal Products Act 1999.

3The phrase in accordance with company requirements is implicit in all outcomes and evidence requirements in this unit standard.

Outcomes and evidence requirements

Outcome 1

Describe the preparation of seafood goods for dispatch from a seafood goods storage facility.

Evidence requirements

1.1The description includes the documentation required to prepare a consignment of seafood goods for dispatch.

1.2The description includes the system used for locating and identifying the seafood goods required for the consignment.

Rangesystems may include but are not limited to – bar coding, manual, unit numbering, electronic inventory system;

evidence is required for one locating system, and one identifying system.

1.3The description includes the procedures for confirming the located product matches the dispatch request.

1.4The description includes the documentation required for dispatch of seafood goods.

Outcome 2

Select, prepare and check seafood goods for dispatch from a seafood goods storage facility.

Evidence requirements

2.1Seafood goods are selected, prepared and checked in accordance with the dispatch request.

2.2Dispatch documentation is completed.
