2Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

The MOU outlines moderation in New Zealand, the granting of consent to assess against standards to providers in New Zealand, and the provision for participation of the NewZealand industry in the review of this standard. 4Definitions
Codes of Practice refer to any issued code of practice approved by the Minister of Labour under Section 20 of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 (HSE) and any work carried out in accordance with that code.
Duty of care means taking all practicable steps to protect the health and safety of others in the workplace as required by the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.
Hazards refer to those occurrences, processes, substances or situations that are determined as being an actual or potential cause or source of harm.
Organisational and workplace procedures mean the documented methods for performing work activities and include health and safety, environmental and quality management requirements. They may refer to manuals, codes of practice, company procedures, manufacturer’s instructions and policy statements.
Standards refer to any New Zealand or Australian Standards that provide technical guidance and specifications. Standards may also be specified in Regulations.
